Cheap gas in the USA caused consumers to buy big inefficient vehicles. I think the average economy for cars in the USA is 25 and that's not impressive. In the past few months when gas was over $3 a gallon, people started to buy more small cars that get excellent fuel economy. I hear you can't even get a Honda Fit right now without waiting a month or more.

What's really nice is when you have a car that gets excellent fuel economy AND gas is cheap. I did this back in 1997 - I could drive 310 miles on lesss than $10 of gas.

I bought a bare bones 2003 Honda Accord LX Coupe from a dealer in Southern California. I negotiated my price through the internet and was able to get it for $1000 under 'invoice'.

p $8000 under MSRP or $4000 under invoice sounds good, but when you're after a basic no-frills model the reality is that they're not marked up that much and you can only talk the price down so low. I got my Accord for just over $17,000 (not including tax) and even though it has no options, the standard features are sufficient for my needs. For $3500 more I could have gotten an EX model, but that would have only given me a sunroof, wheels (no hubcaps), rear disc brakes instead of drums, body-colored lower side trim, and slightly 'better' interior fabric (though I couldn't tell the difference).

Seriously, who friggin' cares about HD. I'm certainly not excited. I see it as something that people use to show off to their friends - "look at me, I have a 42 inch HD display!!!" I know HD content looks a little more stunning, crisp, and vivid, but standard definition is just fine for most people. It's not like there's distortion or noise like in the analog days. The little compressions artifacts you can see in DVDs are tolerable, even when displayed on a large screen.

My wife has a 700p and it doesn't crash much, though the only apps she regularly uses are Blazer, Bejeweled, and the phone. I'm interested in a custom ROM to get rid of the crap that Sprint installed by default, GetBC (business connection) and GetGood (whatever that is). I'd also like the ability to use downloaded files as freely as I choose. Sometimes downloaded files are 'locked,' prohibiting me from transferring them via bluetooth, email attachment, or to an SD card.

I do however like it when gigantic corporations see the importance of talking to their customers as if they were human beings and not wallets - or at least pretending to. Google does this. Apple does this.
How exactly do they do this? Google sells ads and makes a ton of cash, and they don't try to hide that fact. Apple sells expensive computers and expensive MP3 players, making a ton of cash. With regards to treating customers like humans and not wallets, how is Apple and Google any different than Yahoo, Microsoft, or any other big corporation? They're publicly traded companies, and profit is their main concern.
