headache of AD? uh.. backing up? are you serious? there are command line tools, 3rd part tools as well that handle backing up of AD as well as full forest recovery (and even restoring a single attribute for one use to ALL users in minutes... google is your friend..
The problem is not that god does exist or does not exist but how people are treated for having an original thought. Atheists are told they are without morals by the religious and the religious are told they are a bunch of lemmings following things blindly by the atheists.. who is right? who the #@%@#%#@ cares... keep your religion in your back pocket and just go have a nice life..
you are joking right? only place i want photons coming from during a movie is the screen and possibly the exit sign down on each side of the theatre... i don't think i am alone in that requirement/need...
had a row of teen girls in front of us last week (their parent right in front of my 4 year old) at the Madagascar 2 showing... two people asked them to stop texting and the mgmt was not anywhere in sight. my 4 year old was getting into the movie and his feet were kicking the back of the seat (of the parent might i add) and she asked me to control my child kicking her seat... and my response was short and sweet..
I would love to have him stop once the texting by her child (and others) stopped...
I expected her to have them stop... no, she huffed and moved the group up to the neck crick seats (ones like 5 feet away) and which also put her children in plain sight of the finally walking through theatre mgmt person who asked them 2 times to stop and finally booted them...
is this supposed to be funny? i mean its like telling some joke that has been told 1000 times and you still think it might get a laugh.. here

the American people voted the guy into office twice. he walked into an office that had some guy who was more interested in getting blowjobs than pulling the trigger on putting bin laden away... yet Bush gets the heat for the budget in a period where if we sit on our hands after getting popped in the nose we look like wimps and when we fight back our own people in this country now are so freaking two-faced they won't even admit they WERE for going out and doing something about things.
those are pictures (the 4 i saw on this link/url) of a freaking building and a few logos... someone could hvae taken those standing outside the building... did i miss something?
I have google as my homepage and the screen I am recieving the error on is the stocks gadget. I get ALL of the google content for my iGoogle page and the only one that fails to render. I have seen this happen on two other networks. My work ip (through HQ leasing in Seattle) and it happened while on the road at a marriott hotel... can't see this as only a comcast thing unless all the other networks are downstream...
Not sure where Tom got his hardware but I have been running 2K8 RC0 on a E6700 with 2GB of ram while dual booting between Fedora and the aforementioned... It runs wonderfully... then I DID install the nvidia nforce motherboard drivers AND the Nvidia Geforce 7100 drivers (this is a server remember) and it runs flat out... this made a HUGE difference in screen redraws and user experience.. (btw: you can use Vista drivers on 2K8 just fine)
The server manager screens draw just fine but what does happen is the values in the display boxes sometimes are slow to fill in. the Windows Server Virtualization screen for the settings of a given VM display quick as heck but the values FOR the vm (like path/etc) take 5 seconds... this i am giving MSFT a little room on since it is RC0 and NOT RTM and I am sure there are some things changing in the performance between now and release...
not a 2K8 fanboy OR a linux fanboy... just a fan of an OS that lets me do what i need to do in my job... linux or windows... they both have their warts...
Did anyone notice that the device included the Nvidia GO video chipset while using the AMD processor? Guessing that this is something build prior to the ATI purchase or ???
I worked for a small family owned (publicly traded) oil/gas exploration company down in Texas for about a year.. Came in and the guy there was farming all IT work out to the local consulting firm... I got them off of NetBEUI (yes, NetBEUI) and on to IP and setup DNS/WINS/DHCP... I also took them off of WorkGroup PostOffice (ouch) and also managed to upgrade them to Windows 95 and Office 95 or whatever the heck it was back then... in doing my assessment i came across the fact that we did NOT have licenses for more than 25 pc's and yet we had 250 employees... I did the math, submitted it to the CIO and he said it was a calculated risk they were willing to take.. even though the OS/Office licenses would not have totaled 75k and the penalties at the time would have been over 300k... i left about 2 weeks later after rolling out Exchange and upgrading their desktops (Finished my task) and went on... I still to this day have the email that he wrote me back with the 'calculated risk' in the return... found it on an old 20GB DAT tape going through things to chuck into a garage sale box...
take a look at wwww.nsoftware.com and look at their remoting capabilities... powershell scripts can be extended to add cmdlets for ssh, snmp, wmi, etc... no reason perl and bash and ??? could not be added as another snapin to extend things...
another cool product is www.powergadgets.com for widget/gadget graphing on windows desktops...
As far as the file copies go there is sometihng you need to consider. The ACL's on the old XP partition or drive that was around long before you laid down Vista are permissioned using old XP/Win2000/2003/etc file level permissions... Those do not go away... I have a laptop that had an internal 80GB drive that was dual booting Suse10 and WindowsXP with each owning 40GB... I also had a 80gb swappable drive in the cdrom bay that was formatted NTFS and held WAY too many vmware/vpc images...
anyway... i installed Vista in place of both OS's on the internal drive (i am using my old laptop for suse only... yeah) and on install i kept trying to save files to the swap drive... i would get these annoying errors.. basically the old acl's were keeping me from laying anything down and Vista was treating this drive/parition as read-only it appeared...
So I copied the contents of the drive to an external usb drive... blew away the partition and recreated it under vista... copied the contents back and the annoying file copies nags are gone.. i am the 'owner' and can move stuff around as i please.. i probably coule have run takeown or some other re-acl'ing program but it also gave me time to NOT move crap over that I don't need/want..
basically the annoy factor was huge... i figured out what hte problem was and it is gone now.. i occasionally get nagged for things but it is FAR less now...
SQL Server Express is not a server class product... its the next iteration of MSDE which is their desktop/workstation database... why is this a problem running it on your desktop.. its SUPPOSED to run on a workstation... and its been out for a while and SP1 has been out since before Vista RTM'd... so they put out a SP2 to support it.. dunno what is the big deal... modded +1 FUD
The 3 machines I have Vista Ultimate running on seem just fine coming out of hibernation... sound/video/etc all work just fine... I have it running on a nice Conroe 6700, a IBM T30 laptop and another IBM T42 laptop... all work, wakeup, sleep, hibernate, reboot, etc...
guess i am one of the few...
