Why aren't you blaming Apple? They are the ones that could have released this phone without a carrier. Apple brought the idea to market, and AT&T said "Hey, we'll pay you X amount of dollars a month per user for exclusive rights!" Apple saw the $$$$ signs flashing in front of their eyes and signed away. End of story.
Honestly, I'm sure half the nerds on this site could build an entire SYSTEM that'd put this upgrade to shame at that price. Ok, go for it. Spec out an entire gaming system for $485 that will easily beat the benchmarks posted on the last few pages of the article. Seriously, I haven't upgraded my gaming rig in three years and this would prove extremely useful.
Why he would expect a large number of Linux-based visitors to the site when the media downloads are Windows XP only is not clear. Hey Fudmitter, he's not talking about the media site, he's talking about news.bbc.co.uk. Still that seems a little low. We should have upped those numbers for him and linked his site directly in the summary...
I'd avoid that request if I were you. Remember, the whole plot of the show is to force Joel/Mike to watch terrible movies with the anticipation of driving them mad. The commentary is there so the audience doesn't go mad themselves. Think of Joel/Mike & the bots as safety buffers for your brain.
I had been using a WRT54G, but I retired it for Buffalo WHR-HP-54G. I've been using DD-WRT on both of them, and it's been pretty solid. V24 is looking to be a pretty good release too.
This is pretty much completely off topic at this point, and I'm not trying to get into a pissing match or anything...My energy bill averages around ~$50-60 a month, and I know that the price per kwh here is lower than CA. Probably the result of running several desktops with CRTs all the time. Cable/phone/ISP cost about the same. The only thing that I can remember being cheaper when I lived in San Diego was the wine (purchased at a grocery store, with one of no less than 30 of the club cards I had to carry for every store, of course). Even McDonald's prices were jacked up 30%!
There's always going to be exceptions to the rule, but either way you cut it if you're comparing dollar amounts across states you're going to have to use some sort of exchange rate. All you have to do is look at the Per Diem rates to get an idea of just how much cheaper it is. A dollar in MN just goes further than a dollar in CA.
Here in cali... There's your problem. I know it's not the same in all of California, but one can assume you pay a premium for living there. I've vacationed to San Fran twice, depleting my savings accounts on great food and more wine than I can remember. I also lived in San Diego (Mission Valley) for a while, at the slim cost of $2800 a month for rent, plus insane costs for everything else. Let's just say I was more than happy to return home to Minnesota, where $2800 would be enough for two house payments. Oh, and beef that isn't $10 a pound (I thought you guys had a lot of cows there these days?)
Here (in Minnesota, about 15 minutes from downtown St Paul) when I want to splurge, I pay $7.50 for 18 year old scotch at a bar, or $6 for a good micro brew. If I want to take my wife out to a nice restaurant, there are plenty that would gladly charge me over $100 for a meal. However, there are easily 10 times more restaurants that provide just as a romantic experience (and a great meal) for $50.
Around here the dollar does stretch that far, I guarantee it. Stop flying over the states, and stop in once in a while. We really do it up well for pretty cheap. Oh, and there's plenty of parking. Just sayin'.
There's always a way to cheat in games, and some people will take advantage of that every chance they get. Not everyone is a cheater though, that was my point.
Right, but this particular thread is about how the game is supposedly dead since the publisher has no more financial motivation to continue supporting it.
Because the sort of person that wants a $100 video card is the type of person who would get several nights out for $250 at what they perceive to be nice restaurants, including drinks.
As much as I hate bringing up file sharing and the AAs, how is this really that much different than the situation with pirating music/movies/software/etc? People don't have to buy the cards/CDs/DVDs/etc, but people still do. Why are people assuming that now every single player will just used fake cards? As noted several times above, people have copied/proxied M:tG cards for over a decade, yet they still pump out more cards and people buy them.
Probably around 1998, for me at least. The group of friends I played with tended to use proxies for the more expensive cards. It was a lot cheaper, and more fun, to try out new deck ideas that way. No point in spending lots of cash on the real cards just to test out a deck theme, only to find that the idea didn't work as well as you wanted.
Yeah, but how many people do you think picked up three extra Wiimotes + Nunchuks at $180 to play 4 player Wii Sports? Classic controllers for the VC? Game Cube controllers (for those that didn't have a Gamecube)? Charging stations? Wireless Sensor Bars? Wiimote protectors?
The Wii is an accessory makers dream...Rockband should fit right in.
Whereas when I was into PC gaming I had to scrutinize the box to work out if the game would even install on my year-old PC. What in the hell are you talking about? Your year old computer can't play at graphic levels above a 360 or PS3? I haven't upgraded my computer in almost three years (and only spent ~$600 at the time), and new games install and play just fine. I'm not running top end graphics settings, but it isn't any worse than what the 360 or the PS3 puts out.
No, according to a link in TFA, it says that if you have windows update configured, you will get the program. I don't know about other MS updates, but I know my company laptop has a program installed to block IE7 installs. I would go so far as to say that it is configured to not use IE7, although I haven't had my coffee yet.

So you'd like to see Fox sue themselves? Brilliant!
My Linksys router runs a Linux based software firewall.

Yup, and after cost of living differences, $100 in LA is around ~$55 where I live. Makes me glad my employer pays on a national average.

Oh, so that's why everyone uses aimbots in CS!

Indeed. It's too bad no one thought of a way to remove the money aspect of the game.

What do you expect when CNN quotes a newspaper?
Sounds pretty good.

I finally know what the ???s are!
6. When the aforementioned online activation sees that the original copy is now used in some other system, access to the the backup is revoked.
Brilliant!
So you went on a business trip is what you're saying. Vacation is defined as leaving work behind.
Well, I am big fan of it, I'll admit that much!
