Because you can plug it into your laptop if you're at a local hotspot? Think mobility + offloading processing. Not exactly the most useful of devices, but for someone who's constantly at the mercy of free/public wifi it could be convenient.
Connecticut's attorney general announced a lawsuit Thursday against Best Buy Co. Inc., accusing the nation's largest consumer electronics retailer of deceiving customers with in-store computer kiosks and overcharging them.
Article date? Yesterday. This isn't just people complaining anymore.
Widely available doesn't just mean that anyone could download it though...it has to be available in the sense that almost any end user could apply the crack and use it effectively. Something like AnyDVD, where all the user needs to know is how to download a file and install it.

Question: Why is this a bogus patent?
I clearly understood that the GP was posing a question to the/. audience after RTFA, much like a teacher might ask a classroom of students "Why was Elmo sent to the Turkish prison?" after watching 'Elmo Visits Mininova'. He then followed up with his own opinion, and posed a follow up question to try and get people thinking. Obviously discussing TFA is beyond the GGP.
Probably because the GP doesn't need someone else to think for him? I realize that coming to your own conclusions can be a scary experience, but you ought to try it some time.
Did you actually register all three keys with separate accounts? Because, you know, to actually get the steam account, you'd have to register them separately...not just get the cdkey.
For Ford it's kinda close...at least my 2005 Taurus. The passenger air bag automatically disables when something light is in the seat. It lets you know the airbag is disabled by lighting up an indicator just below the radio. Removing the factory radio/wiring and hooking up an aftermarket deck disables the passenger airbag completely. No larger name places would touch my car, jerks! Last I checked all you needed to do was put a 10k ohm resistor inline to fix it. For some reason my wife won't let me test that out though.
If we're allowed to go with third party controllers, the Logitech Cordless Action Controller for the PS2 is hands down my favorite. They fixed up the d-pad to make it smoother for slide movements on action games, and the grips in back are much more comfortable than the original. The wireless has great range, and the battery life is something like 200+ hours with rumble turned off. The only downside is it can be a pain to get it to sync with the receiver.
As odd as it is to say this...a 'fist fight' usually implies both sides consented to it. Otherwise he would have said 'some kid gets beaten while screaming for help', which I would wager happens much more often in any school than once a semester. So yes, if two kids want to beat on each other, go for it. At my high school, at least as of 6 years ago, getting in a fist fight would result in a ~3 day suspension. Beating on a helpless kid would have been expulsion.
Both examples are just basic Quality of Service (QoS). As the packets enter the router, certain types of traffic can be given priority when the resources become available to send. Other types of traffic are queued until there's a spot open. Basic QoS really only applies when the link is completely saturated.
I haven't touched much Cisco equipment lately, but what you can do is limit the amount of traffic that a certain protocol uses. So if you have a 100Mb pipe, you can limit P2P to only say, 1Mb of that. Even if the other 99Mb is wide open, only 1Mb can be used. I don't doubt there's a way to artificially add delay to p2p traffic. Otherwise you could force those protocols through slower links/routes. There are plenty of ways to limit all types of traffic.
Log into your router and do a dhcp release/renew from there. If you can, change the routers MAC address too, and do an dhcp release/renew. With Comcast this pulls a new IP address, not sure if it works on Cox or not.
Odds are to 'hack' (aka, bring up the web console) into your router, you need to directly connect your PC to it, set your PC ip address to 192.168.100.2/255.255.255.0, and open a web browser to http://192.168.100.1./ If that doesn't work try 192.168.10.x.
I guess it depends on how much the ad costs go up. I don't know the correct marketing/accounting lingo, but a company has to expect a certain return on investment when they pay for their ads. If their ROI turns out to be better on the cheaper station, because costs have gotten to high to efficiently market on the big stations, they'll stick with the smaller stations. Not every company can afford to just toss out more and more $$ for their marketing. Besides, if the ROI on advertising was that good on big stations, no one would bother to advertise on the smaller stations to begin with.
Last I heard there's only a handful of hardcore raiding guilds who have even stepped foot in Plane of Hate - and so far none have defeated Innoruuk.
The guild I'm in (and this isn't too uncommon) hasn't even got to the end of Fear.
There, I oldschool Everquested it for ya. To say WoW raiding is somehow better than EQ raiding means you've never raided EQ. I haven't raided EQ for years, but I recall it being a ton of fun, challenging, and very very enjoyable. It's been a while since I've played a game that required that level of skill in their players.
What's exactly wrong with taking a day off work to play Halo 3?
There's nothing wrong with take off a day to play a video game. The problem is people that take a day off work on release day for a game that's distributed online. Any MMOG vet will tell you, don't even bother trying to play the first few days (weeks) of release! Games that require an online component hardly ever work right away. Wait until you see the 3rd emergency patch which usually comes after the 7th server crash...then take a few days off to play!
Not a good idea at all...this was around 8 to 10 years ago. The guy was one of those typical addict cases you see on anti-drug propaganda...brilliant kid, 4.0 gpa, free ride to any college he wanted, etc etc. Instead he dropped out of high school, has been in an out of mental facilities, living at home and working at a gas station.
He said it made him feel drunk. I think he was ~15 at the time. Keep in mind various things have different effects on people...especially since there wasn't actually anything wrong with him. Well, at least nothing the Xanax would be used to treat.
...except the addicts I've known in my life were extremely good at social engineering. Hence they were able to 'legitimately' acquire their poison of choice. One guy I knew in high school fooled multiple doctors (medical & psychiatric) into believing he had BPD to get a big Rx for Xanax. Something tells me he's going to be able to fool your average HR employee.
So "Mission Critical" is just a myth too, right?
I almost hate to do this on /., but I feel it's appropriate.
"You are trying to brake to avoid a deadly accident. Cancel or al..."
One horrible joke deserves another!

You must have missed the first line of TFA:

Except that the smaller, independent stations in my area don't play RIAA music, so they wouldn't have to increase their costs at all.
If I may quote Lewis Black...
MTV is to music as KFC is to chicken.
Well, I'd hope they'd at least stick around long enough to take advantage of said services
do the women usually stick around?
That's what he paid them for, isn't it?
