As a resident of the Great State of Michigan, I for one and pissed off beyond belief at these legislators that continue to push the already depressed economy here with their studid fee increases and "luxury taxes".
Jennifer Granholm has single handedly run this State's economy into the shithole with her stupid "state funded programs" and has done nothing but raise taxes and fees on everything from State Park permits (A HUGE part of our economy is our nature tourism, camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and the like) to the latest exploit which is trying to levy taxes on Internet purchases.
7.5% unemployment; takes 6 months or longer to find a decent paying job, and I can't even get a break on buying a cheap pack of smokes and a 6 pack of beer to numb the pain.
All these taxes are put into place to cover her as on the HUGE deficit that she has rung up with her "programs".
"...states would be required to link their DMV databases if they wished to receive federal funds."
National ID card with RFID and other tracking devices sounds too scary to people, this is a way of slipping it in gently.
How about we stop using federal funds as a coercion tool?? The sad thing is that if we opted to put it to a vote, people would vote for the false sense of security.
Exactly how much source code is Microsoft going to use from the Open Source World and call it their own (i.e. LDAP, TCP/IP, and the like) on the next Windows project? And then throw their market share around like a big stick to scare everyone into using their product?
I don't think they've discovered a way for the mini macs and powerbooks not to have a thermo nuclear melt down from the heat generated.
Client of mine has a rack full of G5 Xserves, and you can feel the heat on the other side of the server room door. And that's with it's own AC system.Besides, the mini mac was designed for the average "Windows End User" afraid of anything other then Microsoft products, and they don't need a 64bit web browser, or office suite.
The point is, that Global Warming is a farce that is going to happen wether we like it or not. And no amount of recycling, or battery powered cars, or Public Transportion, HEPA filters, or NON areosol cans are gonna stop it.
My advice: Go by a big giant UV resistant plastic bubble, climb in and curl up in the fetal position and live in fear. Or...you could just live your life, drive the car you want, use big aerosol cans of Cutter bugspray, and AquaNet Hairspray and be happy.
Look, the idea that you could begin compare all the combustion engines on the planet, plus every cattle belching ranch (for the last 150 some years since the industrial revolution) and think that it would even come close the amount of "Greenhouse Gases" emited by the THOUSANDS of volcanoes (not counting the ones underwater)in one DAY, is a foolish notion.
If it makes you feel better to think you play a role in the evolution of human race by driving a crappy plastic hybrid Honda, then by all means, be my guest.
This is just the same "fear of Tech" that CEO's and Accountants feel when confronted by a new peice of software or any kind of technology change(turned up a notch with a dash of police brutality and intimidation).
Anytime people feel they have lost control, or have no idea how to control a certain sect of society, their response is to "crack down" no matter how rediculous the method. (i.e. the gentleman with the laser beam, the kid in a small town caught with a joint;
(Oh YES, we have to make examples out of these people).
mmmmmmm let's see, if you were in a court room, and there was any question about "one" of the documents, and if all the documents came from the same source, would you weigh the credibility of the other documents the same?
And if you wanted to take the documents at their face value, wouldn't you do the investigations to find out if indeed they were true?
To answer these questions any other way then with logic, would be wrong. Outcome of the election aside, with Post Election Selection Syndrome not factored in.
What happens here is anyone with a more conservative viewpoint becomes a whipping post here at/. And apparently my Karma reflects it.

Gee, thanks.
Maybe we could even make it a security patch???

I thought it was Warlord and genocide???
Let them tell me the planet is cooking as they plug in their car at night, or step outside and their nostrils freeze shut.
Wanks.
Imagine the PIX to cover that subnet?
If they can do that, can't they just pick up the Iceberg and move it to prevent this catastrophe?
I'm sure glad they didn't bring the iceberg up here for comparison.
They are class Z engines. But you can only get them on Ebay

A. Because there wasn't any proof, or a lick of truth to the documents. Ask Dan Rather, News Anchor (ret.)
