    If you are using a finger-print scanner to make ANY purchase, get ready to spend the rest of your life tracking down fraudulent purchases.

    Even post bubble, vendors tend to take care of sales reps and techs...

    It's not ignorant brand loyalty that makes people buy Macs. It's brand loyalty that has been earned by delivering the best computing experience to people over the years.

    Oh, I don't argue with that at all. My issues is with the zealots, on both sides, that can't seem to understand that there are better options (it may be CPU, OS/GUI, etc) on both sides that if combines could create an all around excellent product.

    For example, if Apple had AMD create and exclusive chip based on the AMD64-Chipset for Apple's new machines. It quite obvious that IBM can't, or isn't willing, to scale the G5.

    Please, don't care.

    It makes my job as a computer technician very likely never to go away when more and more of you decide to remain ignorant brand-loyal asses about anything having to do with computers.

    While you are at it you should not care about VOIP, OLED displays, HDTV or any other emerging tech that is better than the aging standard.

    Your rock of choice is this thing you mentioned called "AMD64." (No idea what that is. Never heard of it. I'm taking your word for it that it's a real thing.)

    You do realize that the AMD64 arch. is the direct competition to the G5, right? Despite what Jobs about the G5 being the first 64-Bit workstation on the market - it wasn't AMD64 based systems were shipping before the G5s.

    So, are you saying you don't give a shit about 64-Bit computing at all?

    Unless there is an agreement posted, or signed, saying that no part of this can be rebroadcast vlah blah blah...

    If that isn't in place, Apple wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

    What would make no sense is, this is advertising FOR Apple by people who love Apple. If they are willing to foot the connection and hosting bills, Apple should THANK them, not sue them. Sadly, corporations never think this way.

    It was from a discussion with an LG engineer when they were in-house doing training for us.

    They said it was previously Samsung, but that LG is now their supplier.

    Now, if the LG guys are lying to us....

    Anyone in the Robotics/Automation industry, I have a question.

    Does the ASIMO actually advance the field of robotics? Does it come out with revolutionary advances, or just build on those of others?

    I don't mean to take anything away from the ASIMO, it's pretty slick, but is it a beacon or a distraction for "real" robotics?

    Actually, if done right, buying a company CAN increase your profits and growth - and can be good for both sides.

    For example, the 22bil/yr company I work for just bought a 75mil/yr company that was no2 in a field we couldn't expand into. Now we are in that field, and with what we brought to the table, have grown their business to 100mil/yr in a few month. Into the billions in a few (2) years (projected).

    Um, it's obvious that you aren't aware of HOW the different types of LCDs work.

    Reflective LCD doesn't mean that it reflects everything around you, or that there is any glare, it just bounces ambiant light back through the panel to improve brightness. This also has the effect of making them good outdoors in sunlight.

    That information is dated.

    If you compare a new 17in (for example) CRT with a new 17in LCD, the power draw is almost the same.

    The improvements in crt technology and electronics in general has led to much higher efficiency.

    You are all missing the point! These are going to have excellent uses in the LIVING ROOM. The Samsung-SDI model is 32in, and they have a 42in and 50in on the way.

    The 32in is estimated to be $1000 retail and is ACTUALLY 1080i, not like the 'take 1080 and make 720" game that Plasma monitors play.

    Sure, as COMPUTER monitors it ain't all that great, but these have signifigant advantges over Plasma and LCD in the living room.
