I think the fact that KDE even exists means that Gnome shouldn't try to be more "advanced" (bloated).
So people like the advanced options, the glimmer and the numerous widgets. Those people pick KDE. Some people just a basic, day-to-day desktop environment. Those people pick Gnome.
Another funny insight into how free speech works in Denmark: It's illegal to burn other countries' flags (I think it's seen as encouraging violence and hate,) but it's legal to burn the Danish flag! The Danish People's Party (right-wing rascist opportunists and black priests) recently tried to outlaw burning our nations flag, but they didn't really raise any support.
Speaking as a Dane, I think this episode has been blown way out of proportion - the Islamists have to accept that our government has neither the power nor the will to "punish" an independant newspaper. Personally, I think several of the cartoons were rascist, but there are laws against that in Denmark, and I believe there's already been filed a report to the police.
What really strikes me is the hypocracy of these fundamentalists and the Arab governments - have any of you seen the anti-Jewish cartoons in the government-controlled newspapers in the Muslim world? Lets just say that they are very similar to the ones used in a certain European country in the thirties. As a Jew, I am very offended by that, but you don't see people like me burning down embassies, crying out for revenge and death.
I hope the "buy Danish" campaign is successful, the Muslim boycot is pressuring the industry leaders to distance themselves from the principles of our society.
As a last thing, I'm happy to hear that the US and the UK are finally showing some support - hell, we've been in Afghanistan and Iraq for ages, it's the least you can do, especially since this is a case where you share the same principles. Yes, several of the cartoons crossed the boundary, but the reaction from the Muslim world is unacceptable.
Luckily, a lot of Muslims here in Denmark are showing strong support for the government, they're even starting an organization of moderate Muslims.
I once believed that democracy could be brought to the Arab world. I'm not that naive any more.
WebForms is a fundamentally flawed specification. The data model and the presentation are combined, making it pretty inflexible. I've been playing around with XForms for a some time now, and while it's definitely very different, it's much more powerful than WebForms can ever be.
"There has to be a good reason to use speech, maybe you're hands are full..."
"Computer, play video!" "Hmm, to much talk..." "Computer, fast forward!" "Wow, nice!" "Computer, resume normal play!" "Mmmm" "Computer, play that scene again..."
In addition, it is hard to compare the US with a single European country, especially one that's as small (relatively) as Sweden. A better comparison would be with the European Union. It's pretty obvious why the smaller countries don't wan't the EU to have the same parliamentary systems as they themselves have, as it would mean that the power wasn't distributed equally among the member nations, but was given on a per-citizen basis.
That being said, the US states have integrated pretty well with each other within the last 300 years - a parliamentary system would probably be preferable now.
Dear God, I just don't understand why you Americans put up with all that censoring - I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but here in Denmark it simply doesn't exist. The public (as in owned but not directly controlled by the state) channels use "faul" language all the time, show complete nudity, etc. We just don't see it as a problem!
Unfortunately, the company is having a lot of difficulties, aminly because their target audience is getting smaller. Kids at age 10 would rather play ideo games than play with Lego. I know for a fact that they're balancing on the edge (I know the consultant who's working with the board to sort out the mess.)

The availability of both seems ideal to me.
Why not just loop { puts "I'm loving Ruby" }?
The problem is that it's a step in the wrong direction. As long as presentation and data are not seperated, it's all just eye candy and hacks.
That's kind of funny, since you can buy posters and mugs featuring Muhammad...

I believe it's about 70-80%

One word: Ruby.
Mod parent up for the obligatory Pulp Fiction quote.
Actually, when the Mythbursters invited the MIT guys to San Francisco, MIT's death ray apparatus didn't successfully set a ship on fire.

You won't find them in nature *today*, but that's just 'cause there ain't no more real pirates! Dear God, where's your logical sense?!
In Soviet Russia, only old Koreans welcome robotic overlords!
Um...

Only an American could ever have thought up something this bizarre! ;)
And people wonder why we non-americans object to ICANN's control with the domain names...
These are the times it's great to be a Dane!
Der er et yndigt land,
det står med brede bøge

You're right, those incredibly wealthy environmentalists have everybody in their pockets...
I see they've added more detailed images of cities such as Copenhagen. I hope they'll add street maps soon.
