But then the VI(M) bindings don't make sense in dvorak. Most notably, hjkl won't be in the home row, in that order, adjacent to each other. You might be able to change this in vim, but it's still a problem. Wouldn't this also gimp you any time you had to use a qwerty keyboard, or do you find it simple to switch back and forth?
A lot of people lose sight of the effects of copyright to areas other than filesharing. An important, yet often overlooked area is copyright of DNA and biological organisms. What you have know is where some companies sell 3rd world countries genetically engineered crops that do not produce fertile seeds. I'm fuzzy on the details of why they ended up using only seedless crops, but I suspect it's some sort of embrace extend extinguish thing, mixed in with government corruption.
What has happened is that some people are forced to buy genetically engineered seeds, and it is piracy for them to use normal seeds. The bottom line is that copyright law should never force someone into food dependence.
It is also important to think about whether lifeforms or DNA sequences should be copyrighted. I'm not even talking about engineered lifeforms/DNA, but copyrighting DNA sequences found in nature, something a lot of U.S. pharmaceuticals are doing.
You should already know that BEFORE you immigrate to another country. Waiting until after you are there is detrimental and counter-intuitive, as the reason you're immigrating is for a better quality of life. If you don't know if it is better to live in country X over country Y, then why are you leaving X for Y?
My knowledge of modern windows (XP, Vista) isn't very good, but I've always been under the impression Administrator==root. Is that not so? Is System Access "root" or is there a more powerful level? What are the differences between Administrator, System Access, and any other more powerful levels?
Also, how do I get "root" or the most powerful level of access to an XP machine?
Netbeans might have memory issues as you scale up what you're doing with it, but I've never had memory issues with it and I have had memory issues with eclipse.
I've never really understood eclipse's popularity. It has a bad UI, it's slow and has dumb default settings (compile on save). I've found netbeans to be much better in all three areas, but mainly the UI. Granted, I've only used eclipse/netbeans for small java projects (1k loc). So does eclipse have some killer feature that I don't know about?
I'm just curious, what do you consider elementary scientific principles?

Geeks are too fractured and diverse to become mainstream. Plus the qualifications to become one aren't really something you can fake. You can read xkcd and use linux, but that doesn't make you a geek. Intelligence and enjoying learning does, and that can't be faked.
Violent revolution doesn't work unless you have vast public support. What instead happens is the violent minority is ostracised and considered a fringe group. Look at The Weather Underground. In protest of the Vietnam War they blew up public buildings for 10 years. Before each bombing they published a pamphlet that warned people of the upcoming bombing and explained their reasons for the bombing. In 10 years of doing this they had 0 casaulties. They should have been viewed as heroes, instead people considered them nutjobs. Nowadays they've been written out of history books.
Granted that's better than gulags but you're ignoring things like: *Being beaten by other prisoners *Being raped and then infected with STDs (male or female) *Being denied access to medical care *Being starved/tortured by abusive/poorly trained guards *Capital punishment
Copyright of any form is a limitation on free speech by definition, as it places limits on "speech". Slander and libel laws also by definition place limits on free speech. People who claim they want unfettered free speech either haven't thought it through, or they're anarchists.
Well it's a 5gb cap with verizon aircard. Not sure if that's seperate for upload/download or both combined, but that's pretty small unless all you care about is email.
Jeez, do guys you turn off lights by hitting the switch with a hammer? Why not just use QuickTime's control panel to tell it you don't want an icon in the notification area? Then it will never return.
Because QuickTime isn't a trusted program. It's already insidious, why should we assume it will do what we ask?
Like someone else said, there's always EVE-online. No box or expansions to buy, $15 subscription. Not for everyone, but it's a solid game. They still have the 14day free trial and the upcoming expansion is aimed at shallowing the curve between pve and pvp. Okay with a player run economy there really isn't such a thing as pve, but missioning is pretty close to traditional pve. The things you need to keep in mind about EVE is that it's a sandbox and the best content is player made.
I'm rusty with my history, but when have we ever been capable of "large scale rational action"? The only example I can think of that somewhat qualifies is WW2, but that seems to be by far the exception and not a general trend.
So assuming it gets cracked, couldn't the US just physically powerdown their (former) botnet? I mean, I'd hope they'd choose a nicer distrubution method then malware, in which case they should know the physical location of each computer in their botnet.
No we do not need user education, what we need are systems that are designed from the ground up to be secure, ie whitelisting. I want an OS where the only programs that can run are ones the root account has given explicit permission to. We'd still need administrator education but that's actually feasible unlike general user education (see better idiot).
Parent is completely correct, what a lot of people fail to understand is that capitalism and business are not zero-sum games. Bob's successful car shop business doesn't inherently mean John's successful car shop business earns no money, it means they each earn a little less money. An important aspect of this is that wealth is not some finite amount, if I want more wealth I can go and create some by turning raw products into finished goods. I'm not making anyone poorer by turning raw lumber into furniture, but I am making myself richer.
He's legally obligated to provide maximum money for shareholders. There's a large distinction between that and morally obligated. Also I've never heard of any company being sued for "not maximizing shareholder money", that's just a bullshit line people through out in defense of companies. While it is technically illegal, it is de facto permissible for companies to not maximize shareholder money.

Right after I posted this I found a highly relevant link. Seed piracy, "It doesn't look right for them to have a patent on something that you can grow yourself"

Well almost. Business is the study of the execution of economics, economics is the study of economics.

Soulseek has just about every obscure music ever made. Downloads aren't fast, but at least they're there.

Did I mention it runs on Linux?
You do know you can "sudo -i" and it's just like "su"?
New linux distros are being made all the time, why does this distro deserve attention over any of those other new distros?
