Technology is becoming social graph driven. Do we really want a socially inept person running a tech company that claims to be moving in a social direction (as evidenced by Bing's most recent commercial)?
All AT&T said was that they didn't want to favor Google over other providers. We have to assume that they meant Apple. And why would they? They have a sweet deal with Apple. How is this in anyway hypocritical or evil? AT&T favors Apple, so they don't join.
People just look for any reason to be mad at someone.
Wow! Didn't realize universities had a "Masochism" major. Would an internship at the "Head On" testing lab count? Or even working at a recording studio doing nothing but cataloging Michael Bolton albums?
Laptops have always been something that Apple has done well. They are sleek, fast as hell and other than the heat issues with the current crop (I'm running a MacBook Pro right now and cooking breakfast) as stable or more so than most other offerings. Will this thread start a flame war? Probably. But for crying out loud, they are tools, not a religion. I'm running both XP and OS X through Boot Camp. I wouldn't have gotten a mac laptop if that weren't possible. Their sales will go up because of this, but probably not anything that Dell needs to worry about. OS X's strengths tend to lie in niche groups (Music, Video and Graphics) or the arcane (command line *nix world). Win XP does everyday business tasks in a more comprehensible manner for most folks because most folks have been trained that way. Having both is a great thing for geeks. I know I'm happy about it. Apple saw this and is embracing it, but it won't give them the market share most are saying it could. They still will be, for the foreseeable future, a small segment.
Can you really tell the difference between all of the photos that are released by the little dudes? I think NASA is photoshoping and then releasing the same photos every so often, saying it is really a new place on Mars. It's a giant conspiracy I tell ya.
But seriously, Way to go little dudes. You have more energy than me. I get bored by my second bowl of cereal let alone doing the same thing for months on end.
I am an older mac gamer myself currently enjoying WoW. You would be surprised at the number of older gamers in WoW. You just have to know where to look for them. PvP is an ego driven endeavor to begin with so those servers tend to be filled with the gank happy leet script kiddies. The RP servers tend to have a much more laid back, adult approach. The guild I am currently in actually has a nice mix in age ranges so PvP, Raids, social interaction and PvE are all addressed. Our oldest member is 57 with the youngest being 14. The officers do an excellent job of making sure that every age range/group is taken care of. If you do get the game look on the Feathermoon server, Horde side for Shadows of the Ancestors. My char is Fledermaus (and yes, i have a real job and life so my gaming is more on the casual side).
I couldn't agree more. I'm the IT manager for a non-profit arts org in DC. We are currently all Dell with the exception of the HP server. Win XP Pro is the OS choice with Small Business Server on the server. The majority of the employees here are all former singers or performers and barely know an email attachment from the My Documents folder and yet when confronted with something new (like my OSX powerbook) they shrivel up and say that "Well, I know how to do it on my dell." And when they ask for suggestions on buying a new machine, Dell is usually the way they go because it is what they know.
Microsoft's monopoly isn't about being easy to learn, it's about being the creepy uncle that says "No, really. It's easy. Let me show you." and they get them when they are young. It's more about real world indoctrination processes rather than ease of use arguments.
Does the world need another IM client? Most geeks tend to use Jabber or Proteus (Mac) to consolidate all of their chat clients into one. Will a standalone really make much of a difference?
What happened to Google innovating and setting themselves apart? Suddenly they get an IPO and they feel they have to mimic the rest of the industry. If Google wants to be another Yahoo, MSN or AOL that's fine but I was really hoping for something new and different out there, not just a rehash of our current offerings with a cleaner UI. Clearly investors kill innovation.
Umm ok... lets read this sentence again... slowly: "People in the US in particular seem to forget that the only real way to enforce anything is with force."... let it sink for a bit. Dear god tell me this was sarcasm please. If it is, I'll hang my head in shame and look stupid... if it isn't, well...
Any one worth their salt knows that a lock pick on the front door is much more elegant and can be done in 30 seconds... besides, windows have glass which will cut you and if you're fat, forget about going through one of those... oh... you meant... umm, yeah, nevermind
You could buy tickets all you want but Ohio State's nanobots would continue to kick U of M's nanobots' nanoasses;). Besides, BuckeyeBot sounds so much better from an aliteration standpoint than WolverBot.
Bill Gates said to be muttering something about "Tiger Tiger. burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye.
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?"
Who knew he was a Blake fan?
I don't care how good picture and sound quality are, f2f (face to face - we're geeks... we love letters) won't be replaced. No amount of video wizardry can replace flesh and blood (my apologies to spielberg and lucas). The screen will always feel like a wall with which one can hide behind creating a latent sense of distrust. Face to face is really the only level playing field for the truly important meetings.
So would the rescue craft be chasing the dragon?

Hey EU, if you want to do well in a game, don't change the rules. Get better.

That those idiots went bragging to their friends that they hacked a site.
The hard part was getting the sharks to hold their heads still.

Isn't Clint Eastwood a bit old to be doing this stuff?

Police Man: Billy, what made you take that pack of gum?
Billy: Kazaa made me do it! Oh yeah, and the Hot Coffee mod too!
10 days later we see Billy on a caribbean island sipping a Shirley Temple wearing a tee shirt saying "This trip paid for by the RIAA."
Parents, don't let your children grow up to be statisticians. They help to turn out spurious crap reports like this.
Didn't they suffer enough watching the movie?

Funny to see the word's "genuine" and "microsoft" in the same story. I love the smell of irony in the evening.
So is mixing pr0n and sci-fi the geek equivalent of chasing the dragon?

Damn, I get my MS Paint joke in 1 minute faster than another one and he gets the +5 :) Conspiracy I tell ya.
Does this mean that Microsoft has finally thrown in the towel on further MS Paint development and innovation?
"Now look at Steve Job's head. Back and to the left. Back and to the left. It's all there on film"
