I'm picturing the battleground - Steve Ballmer against an army of the Ubuntu release name animals, led by Mark Shuttleworth on an African plain somewhere.
Have your friend look up the SPF records for a bunch of big domains. He'll notice that most of them use "~all" - a SoftFail - which is accepted by Gmail. He's probably using "-all," which makes the message just drop. The only examples I've seen of SPF hardfails in the wild are from banks. However, loads of domains are using softfail - Facebook, Google, Microsoft, eBay, MIT, UC Berkeley - to name a few.
That's a feature. It's so you don't go messing around with root if you don't know what you're doing, as Ubuntu is geared toward being user friendly, and to people who aren't necessarily entirely familiar with the workings of Linux. It's easy enough to activate the root account, just 'sudo passwd'.
Yes, and in turn, if you look at Feist's names for things, they come directly from Tolkien's style. Which in turn come from roots in many actual historical things. [is too lazy to look up more now]. Most fantasy books are based off earlier ones in some way or another... it's rather hard to avoid.
You sir, are weak. Being able to untangle that mass of cableage behind one's desk is a staple of geekhood, gross wire length (like number of LEDs in one's living space) is a status symbol. You fail.
Well, I ran the past few comments through MS Word's spellchecker and it changed every link to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp
I guess that must be right if Microsoft said it is...
Forgive me if I state the obvious to some of you, but did anyone notice that iTunes 4.8 has a "convert to mp3" function? Is anybody else wondering what Apple has in mind with that, especially after their previous 7 bun per playlist limit?
Way ahead of you, Microsoft. Change The BSoD color If your error crashes my computer, I'm not going to care if it was a "red" level of severity or a "blue" level of severity. I already know it was severe enough to crash my computer.
Anybody have an opinion on a good AIM client for Windows? I currently use Gaim. Stop yelling at me for using Windows, I know as well as you do it sucks.
!! in bash uses the last command you entered. $ make_me_a_sandwich What? No. $ sudo !! okay. $

Well yes, but you know the ISPs will more than likely shortchange us with the usual single dynamic IP (if you live in the US, at least)
Maybe it'll get people to stop using those damn emoticons. If they could secure a patent purely on graphical ones, that'd be even better.

I'm trying to decide if use of the emoticon is just showing their aptitude to the internet ( teenage girl ), or on evil grin.
... and thus the Great Green Arkleseizure came to pass.

shhh, quiet! don't give them ideas!
Microsoft patents everything that crosses their path. Is it just me, or is this a patent for the binder?

No kidding. Whee. A fellow musician.
It probably won't be long before someone figures out how to map a keyboard to the controls somehow.
