pigments for colours are slightly different composition, smells are different aromatic molecules
Actually he's right, the above still comes down to an atomic structure held in place by gravity.
The reality is we have no idea what is behind the colour/smell. If I dismantle a car in my garage and leave a door,
you see a door, I see a dismantled car
At what point did the car become a door?
The same mindset that produces inventors also produces "deep science" (radically new work, as opposed to filling in the gaps) and other important original work. Originality is the key element, here, because it is both rare and potent.
Yes! Thats what patents are for. To make sure that the big players have a chance to control the 'Garage Hacker'
Imagine the fear in M$ towers with all these kids playing with Linux and improving it.
You'll have to keep ducking as all the Cease and Desist notices start flying around!
We call it Data Mining here in the UK.
Same thing.
You trawl a database and link different tables building a new view of the data.
Great for bored police/Gov officials.
In tens years you'll have this:
Year 2017
person 1 enters shopping mall
Quango sponsored system knows he earns only £12,000 per annum and is overdrawn on his bank account
Security are informed and subject is followed so that he/she leaves
(assumed potential shoplifter as it's shown that most people on a low wage shoplift at some point)
Hey this system works!!
Driving into London now costs £30.00 per day (keeps the great unwashed out and if you pay £40,000 for a car
you don't want to be sat behind some oik in a transit van!!
Ps you can't get insurance anyway as they know your family have a history of heart problems so no car for you, ever!
Na this wont happen!! people will rise up and stop it!
bob
Don't read my Sig!
People used to copy films from videos and some muppets bought them (and were proud of owning them)
We have worse sound now then we have for many years mp3/ogg and itunes is the worse of the lot if not
listening on head phones
So this is not the reason for failing music sales, it's more a splintered market and more older people buy the back catalouges
of the bands they like and have lost the album/lp/CD over time.
The Eagles and Led Zeppelin still sell to millions of fans old and young because the music is relevant to them.
The thing is crap music doesn't make as much money anymore and the one hit wonder is getting expensive to produce, hence pop idol and stuff (make the punter pay for the A&R work, much cheaper)
So When M$ outsources it's programing to $(cheap) add here which ever country
is currently the cheapest
Thats ok then?
But FOSS is taking jobs and killing the software industry.
I don't think so, FOSS is the truly market driven software industry, only the best survives with no help from
governments and such.
My Behringer DDX3216 and Alesis ADAT HD24 do the trick for me for recording purposes- but mixing on Ardour instead of the Behringer gives better sounding results
I find that using the DDX back into Ardour and then mix the whole 16 tracks to another pc using Spdiff, gives really nice results.
I then import the two tracks back into ardour and master with jamin. (the other pc runs Linux)
Sound nice and clean!
Cheers
Bob
Open Source is capitalism in it's best form, free of market control.
Funny how the advocates of the 'free market' actually don't live in the 'free market' instead spend millions trying to control it.
This seems to be where they all fail as the cost is to high.
The open source community lives and dies in a free market
It's about as far from 'communism' as you can get but makes a great sound bite for those that don't care/understand
ER, Don't the corporations now own the politicians? how much to run for office? and kinda make the laws
so that 'Dumpming gets cheaper' as the fines reduce.
Even better, just withdraw money from the agency dealing with 'dumping' so enforecement just falls away.
It's a win win situation for the companies.
OK, So there is this evidence for global warming re ice cores going back 65,000 years
that doesnt show this amount of change in temp.
Where is your evidence that there has been this amount of change and that it is a cycle of how long?
It must show somwhere for you to have this opinion, where? Just point me there and I'll take a look.
Does seem to me that the debate seems to hang on money, Those who are against the global warming thing seem to think
it will effect there income in negative way and so it must be wrong.
I do remember something about open source (BBC I think) and it was so basic as to make out GNU-Liunx and such was still in the black screen command line only set. No mention of Gnome/KDE at all and no pictures of it being used. I have ubuntu on my laptop and people have borrowed it and not realised thay are using Linux. Whan I point out that it's Linux they are really supprised.
Doesn't it worry the US that with all the money poring into the US from China, to bolster
credit card spending and such, that This country will eventually own you.
I know the USA doesn't see the Deficit as a problem but if chine can control your economy
it controls the country.
What happens when they want to purify the USA?
Cheers
Bob
Dont worry!
You'll just invade Iran and take the Oil that the Chinese want.
Then you can pay $1.00 and buy a bigger car.
Slight problem here is that china has a few more modern weapons
then the third world stuff you used to fighting.
Might be a bit of hassle trying to kill them all, But if the Oils worth it you
might get lucky.
Hi
This is indeed changing as we speak. The RIAA is fighting like an old Dinosaur and dying in the proccess.
Our music is realeased on the CC licence.
This allows you to copy to your Car/tape/VHS/ or the wall if you want to.
The only stipulaion is you contact us re any commercial stuff you want to do and we can all share any earnings.
We dont earn a lot now but where else can we build a worldwide reputation?
This is the future of music (per track)
OK We want to stop minors (by age or mental state) seeing Sex/porn (what's the difference?) sites. We want to allow Adults to access legal sex sites to interact with others who are Adults.
Simple, allow the XXX dom and make it only accessable by adults using CC cards and the like. Where is the problem? unless the controllers (?) believe that really there are no 'legal sex' sites, but now that's a different ball game.
Over here in Europe we have a different take on what is exceptable to view and this helps create a diverse culture.
Seems to me this isn't about a XXX dom and more of a control issue.
Seems the USA tried this in ' Nam ' with the detectors outside camps.
Didnt work! If humans struggle to assess a threat how's software going to do it?
Sounds like there running out of ideas over there.
Bob
Have you thought that Nero are reacting to WinXP having a free burner?
The writing is on the wall for these companies.
You build a good product for windoze and it becomes the 'defacto' standard, Bill just uses the best bits and if you dont sell you die.
Just MS doing it's thing.
Nero must be thinking Linux offers a better market, but it's a different market to the windows one.
Cheers
Bb
We'll be better informed!
The OSC
Really put a lot of effort into this at very short notice
The UK would have liked it to 'just roll' over and be passed!
Wonder if Bill liked his trip the Europe?

So MP3 is better than one analogue copy?

Nice!
Bob
No They don't have 'golden ears' most look at the price of the kit and go from there.
The more expensive the better!
As regards I tunes Why??
Seems pointless to me, they have sold crap sound for ages why try change.
Mind you the mac fans will lap it up. (bet they get different colour headphones to show they are listening to better Audio!!)
Cheers

Jesus saves. Buddha makes incremental backups
Got to be the best sig yet!! and so few words!

it's in the philippines
Guess we should ready the troops (not much of an army/Navy over there, should be a cakewalk!)
If these deposits end up in Europe that could be a tad more difficult.

HI We have a site here,
it's been through a few changes but seems solid now:
http://www.projectoverseer.net/
Search for Blueslsd for my band.
Seems self regualting at the mo.

Ok I can only see 'evidence' on the Al gore thing, which seems to show no increase's, as we see now, for up to 65,000 years.
Now did he lie?
It also shows that the temp has gone up dramticaly in the last 300 years.
Where can I see evicence that show this is normal. I'll take a look.
Remember there used to be lots of dinosaurs, but God got bored and she started again!
ER, Don't the corporations now own the politicians? how much to run for office? and kinda make the laws

Thanks
