"pimp out" = recent? What's your definition of recent? 10+ years to me is not recent. I'm sure the term has been used for longer than that too.

Yes, I wasn't referring to forever, but more along the lines of 20-30 years. In 5-7 years it'll start getting tough to find a non-hybrid consumer vehicle. In 10 years, next probably next to impossible. The idea that one would store the energy from braking instead of dispersing it as heat is incredibly simple and obvious, but until now was too cost prohibitive to do on a large scale.

Good news for slashdotters is that these cars will increasingly need skilled computer and electrical engineers for their regular maintenance.

SecureCRT not as functional as PuTTY? You must think that terminal software is only good for connecting via telnet and SSH.

How good does PuTTY do at serial connections and WYSE emulation? How about VT100? How about dialer support? When I've got data coming in over RS485 or RS232 how exactly does PuTTY handle that?

PuTTY is a nice free tool, but it doesn't do 1/100th of what CRT/SecureCRT can do. Not even close.

Anyways, a lot of companies simply change what their initials stand for, or just remove any meaning from their initials. See 3M or BP for example.

3M now stands for "3M", instead of Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing. BP is simply BP now (for all practical purposes). They are no longer British Petroleum.
