I just got one last Friday. An ex-coworker picked me up one. He was in Target and saw two. Great guy. We were both combing the stores looking for Wiis. I gave up after a while and this guy calls me up at work out of the blue and asks if i would want the extra he got. So i paid him and picked up two games on the way home from work. Zelda and Raving Rabids
Still can't find any extra wiimotes though. They're as hard to get as Wii systems and i refuse to pay over cost on eBay.
You can load it on up to 5 computers. My wife has an ipod also. I copied songs from my collection to her laptop over a network share. She couldn't load them into itunes at first but after logging in as my account through her itunes and being asked to authorize her ipod, she had no problems.
But he didn't attack them. The article clearly stated that he fell limp. He didn't struggle, he didn't grab a fork, he didn't fall on top of one of the officers. He also is a college kid in a friggin' library. Not some derelict in an alley.
But he didn't physically shake the cops off. The story says he fell limp. If he resisted using physical actions then i could see where the taser was warranted. But in reality, he fell limp, an obvious sign of non-violent protest. The cops could've tasered him, then two cops could've cuffed him (he was wearing cuffs but i don't know when they were put on), picked him up and carried him out. Wouldn't that've been the correct response?
Whether you or i agree on his opinions, he does have a right to protest and he was doing it non-violently. We don't know if this guy was just stirring shit or has been a repeated victim of profiling by the campus cops in the previous weeks. But what we do know is that the cops took it too far as shown clear as day on video.
Uh... Sega killed themselves. They shot themselves in the foot with their flood of gaming systems after the genesis (megadrive,32x). Too many peope were shellshocked to purchese the Saturn and by this point, their 3rd party support was dismal. Dreamcast was their last desperate attempt to get back in the ring and not go the way of the dodos (or jaguars). That was doomed because of the downward spiral they couldn't pull out of during the Saturn lifecycle.
Votes getting misplaced is a huge deal no matter WHAT the person's voting choice was. Let's drop the spin and partisan bickering on BOTH sides. How can we depend on these machines if errors like this are "common" and not easily fixed (i mean in seconds)?! These touch screens sound like high maintenance. The screens need to be calibrated during heavy use? A voting day should qualify as normal use not heavy use!
You've to remember that its in their best interest to release the Virtual console titles in small groups. If they dumped every game available on there then the majority would barely be noticed and the hype would die a month or so after most people purchase the system. Now they can make events out of certain games and give a handpicked batch of titles their chance in the sun again. This will give them a chance to also make sure the virtual console is being checked often to see what new games are available and make it an active portal for new release ads or whatever.
Maybe they could do a promotion where pre-ordering a new Wii game that's a franchise will get you an (or all) older Virtual title(s) for free as a bonus. Or how about a score ranking tournament where certain older games are available for download and on the opening month the player scores are logged globally. Prizes could be more Wii points to buy more games. It would be great to see how you rank.
I can't wait to play Gunstar Heroes again with some friends and finally on a decent controller (I'm looking at you, SEGA).
A part you are leaving out is that illegal aliens don't have SSNs or any records in the "system" so they don't pay taxes on all that money they are earning.
My wife told me a story about a pair of IAs that were working for an old employer of hers. They both had bought stolen identities here in the states. One day, one of the mexicans almost got caught. Apparently some guy called because he had received a W2 from this company. The guy apparently was in the military and stationed out of the country for a few years. His mom sold his identity while he was away. Then when he finally gets home, he finds out the IRS is hunting him down for backtaxes, all his assets are frozen and he had a warrant for his arrest. The kicker was that the mexican using his identity never paid any taxes the whole time he used it and also put down the maximum exemptions. The mexican never returned to work, vanishing.
Not only that, the article stated that she made defamatory comments. Defamatory comments are different than opinions. Saying " I think -insert name- is a crook" is a lot different than saying that "-insert name- is a crook". She could have dodged this lawsuit if only she worded her comments as opinions instead of facts.
I mean, that's how the rest of the jerks in this country get away with it, right?, i think.
The Wii's controller may be cool, but what's to stop somebody making that for the XBox 360 or even the PS2?
Well for one, the competitors don't have this functionality natively which means every Wii owner will have it off the bat. If M$ or Sony releases a similar device now, they will have to sell it as a peripheral which means people will have to specifically buy it separately. This means not everyone will get it. Ultimately, a developer will be less inclined to make games with that functionality because there is a smaller audience. Most games probably would end up only having that functionality as a token so that those without the device can still play it. This would work against the device's sale as most people don't want to buy a peripheral with limited use nor buy games that don't take full effect of that ability.
Nintendo was extremely smart to keep the Wiimote under wraps until the other developers were concreted in their own product's development.
Dude, it costs $10. I seriously don't think you'll get a functional controller for that much. It most likely is a wearable sleeve so that you don't drop your wiimote on the ground.
I guess it's the fact that NO ONE remembered (especially the editor) that the original game synopsis WAS that you were a kid who basically got fed up and fought back against bullies, bad teachers, etc.
Come on, Slashdot, you're supposed to be better than the regular news spin!
I don't think piracy is the main thing killing the gaming industry. Most people who pirate wouldn't buy a copy of the game anyway. It's a multi-faceted problem. First off, what does a PC offer that a console can't anymore?
Graphics - With the adoption of high-res televisions and next-gen console horsepower, this gap is closing fast.
Online play- More and more consoles games are getting ONLINE finally and some even with headsets for communication, Don't forget the handhelds too so this gap is closing.
Mouse precision - With the Wii, we might finally be able to play an RTS or FPS and get the delicate response that makes a console controller unwieldy or undesirable for those certain game genres.
Episodic content or Expansion packs - Now that consoles are online and have drive space, this isn't going to be an exclusive PC advantage anymore.
What's really left? Modding?
PC games are competing against each other too, especially MMOGs. If I'm going to pay for a subscription, I'm gonna spend the time to play a game for all its worth which means I'm not gonna plunk down more cash for other games that I don't have time for.
Don't forget that PC games on average have a much longer amount of game play time. As console games have shortened the individual game experience, PC game developers have continously raised the bar on the sheer amount of extra playability. Downloadable content, mods and expansion packs have greatly extended the playability of an older game. Hell, my buds and I still play Frozen Throne often enough because of the plethora of fan created maps alone!! This gives me even less free time in which to get bored and look for another game.
And now adays, there's a huge slew of PC games (and obviously console games) released all the time. There definitely is a saturation effect going on that no one is facing or wants to even think about.
Nothing like forcefeeding your new browser into people's machines. What happens when ma and pa or the average user download this update?
They'll click through all the hooplah windows so they can just get back to websurfing and suddenly IE will ask if they want to transfer all their settings from Firefox/Opera that their considerate kids set up for them. Of course, they'll just click through and go on with it because it was a "Critical Update". They'll have to go through all the "make IE your default browser" windows and any other alerts to make Windows centric programs as default...what a load of crap!
I like IE7 and have been using it for a bit but I still think this is just plain consumer abuse.

You sold me right there.
Doesn't matter. Atlanta will end up at the bottom of the ocean someday in the future. I bet my shiny metal ass on it.
It'll be like school. This way he can actually learn to be good lawyer....
On second thought, never mind. He's fine just where he is.

Um...well, that's just ....bad. I dub thee BadPunboy.
I asked my 2 year old daughter where Hungary is and she pointed to her belly.

I luckily have a couple of extra T cells and would be willing to sell them as I could use the sick days. The bidding starts at $4,001.00 please....

Do they seriously think they can make people only use their searches/office/whatever?
This has got to be a troll....
iSearch 2.0
"e" is so 10 years ago. "i" is the bandwagon of the now. It's simplistic and it really speaks to me I...search...I search.
Hey wait a minute, here!! Isn't joystiq.com owned by Zonk!?! Shameless promotionalism....
