That, I believe, should be the motto of education. However, peer pressure and other factors dissolves this time and again and what is supposed to be fun becomes a drudgery for the student...
if lefties has a better channce of using the brain's motor neurons, then why did evolution choose to have 2/3 righties in the chimp population. doesn't it goes against darwin's theory?
you cannot really blame download.com or other such sites for it. its the 'average' user's ignorance that leads to it. and the most surprising thing is they just don't wish to care. once i met a guy at a party who was running around to every other person boasting about his new PC and saying that operating a computer is tic-tac-toe. apparently i figured out (after a little conversation) that linux is some kind of an alien or down-trodden OS he has never heard of, his CPU is pentium 4 and windoze always comes with the hardware and you should use it since there are no alternatives to it. they say that facts are stranger than fiction. who am i to argue against it?
i used encarta by borrowing it from a friend for sometime and i have gotta say that its nothing more that a glossy and animation-loaded package... britannica encyclopedia or for that matter any other encyclopedia wins hands down.
ya that's what i was thinking. i mean what is this? people telling everybody that the INTERNET is used a lot... well everybody knows that... what are they going to put up next, what is the colour of bush's notebook!
what was i guessing genius? i checked out the website. but the millions of dollars spent on these robots can be used to convert a country's agriculture from chemical to green like in cuba. also it may be used to reduce mercury levels in see. the robots check three things: temperature, salinity, and currents which are nothing but indicators of doom. if the temperature increases, polar ice-caps will melt, if salinity increases it will effect marine life and throw off the food equlibrium and pray that there is no change in the currents or the climate of the place concerned with the current will change drastically. so you see the machines are just indicators. where is conservating job of reducing pollution and make it habitable for the future generations of the human race.
please read the article sir. they are NOT meant to check earth's plates and frankly speaking i don't think they can go that deep either. they are used to check water salinity, occurence (when and how) of hurricanes, el nino and other such phenomenons. and pollution is pollution. pollution at one level will effect another level too. you may try a very good article of the cause/effects of ocean pollution here: http://www.lclark.edu/~krauss/advwrf99/causeeffect/mubarakcause.html.
Don't we already know the future. with our present rate of pollution, there will soon be massive global warming, everything will become unsuitable for human consumption and so on and so forth. i guess looking for a method to save the planet is more important now...
give me a break so that i can eat my cake... what! was i singing again, must have been the boredom of seeing 62 year olds performing stunts that would put a 26 year old to shame...
Actually I don't believe it will scare away companies. Infact it will only lead to a greater degree of innovation and pave the way to superior quality products to get the share of the market.
Self-fixing computers means some form of Artificial Intelligence, which again means smarter computers in the sense that it can do more logical operations rather than crunch numbers and data only. May be it won't be much of an impact on computers with personal and business uses but in the science arena, it might bring about a revolution. Just imagine producing complex models in bio-chemistry or designing a chip would be so very much easier with a machine to fix stuff whenever the need be.

It seems that there is no rank for India in the top half. Anybody care to explain what's wrong with the mathematics students here?

I agree, Mac is the best bet for a professional designer.

ya, this could put M$ out of business... ofcourse the apple-IBM merger would become another M$ in the process, so who cares...
