    I am not sure IPv6 can explain show DNS but for nearly everyone disabling it is a reasonable idea.
    At least until your ISP gives you a IPv6 option. It just makes sense to disable stuff that isn't needed - saves memory, simplifies, better security, etc.

    This week I went to several Internet cafés in Montréal. They seemed expensive to me. One had a sign that said C$1 / 10 min -- which of course is C$6 an hour. Seemed a bit pricy to me.

    But that site says Canada costs US$4.50 / hour. Which is C$5.95 according to XE.com.

    Jabber addresses work just like mail. So your friends Jabber IDs might be: friend1@isp1.com, friend2.isp2.com, etc. You only need to connect to myisp.com (just like mail where you only connect to your local SMTP server). myisp.com connects to isp1.com and isp2.com. Its a beautiful thing.

    Well, that's sort of obvious isn't it.
    On one hand I feel kinda sorry for Yahoo IM (that its being using with 3rd party tool). On the other hand ... what the heck am I feeling sorry for them for... Everyone should have switched to Jabber years ago!

    I have run SETI on may RedHat version but it apparently crashed my entire system on Fedora Core 2. I haven't run it since and my system has been stable. I thought the 2.6 Kernel was uncrashable. Of course, I didn't really dig into it.

    ... is not taking the info in the first place!
    As if anyone believes any companie's "privacy policy"... especially when the fine print says it can change at any time and any new law (PATRIOT act) superceeds it.

    I wish there was some way to go thru the world without leaving a HUGE record of everything I did. Why does every business request your name, address, etc? (Yeah I know why). What ever happen to the idea of obtaining a token from (say) Visa which is worth $500 and passing that to the airline ... and no other info.

    The release notes say it can do ftp uploads.
    But I can't see how to do it.
    Anyone know.

    Wasn't there a project called Filezilla
    that did this? Merged?

    I read "Being Digital"... there was absolutely no insight in that book. So Bits are replacing Atoms... brilliant. Maybe someday we'll get email to replace paper-mail... Wow. Where do I sign up to be a guru too.

    That's not totally true.

    Spammers can simply guess your address... eg they try all the "known" addresses at a domain- webmaster@domain, info@domain, etc.

    For big ISPs (eg AOL) they just try every possible address. eg a@domain, .... zzzzz@domain, etc.
