    This deal uses the SuSe ditro which is now based on United Linux. As everyone knows, East and West Germany united a few years ago. They moved the capital back to Berlin which used to be a divided city.

    Maybe this one deal alone is enough to keep SuSe in business and by extension United Linux.

    I wonder when the government of the United states of America will get on the bus.

    I did a search for some Linux .iso's and rpm's on Gnutella and didn't find much. When I downloaded them from ftp sites it took days. So I have put a bunch of rpm's and iso's Gnutella. I'll see if there are any hits. This seems like a good (non-illegal) use of P2P.

    So in the end (of course, this isn't really the end) greed does Gates in. If they had not pursued embedded markets - where let's face it Windows doesn't belong anyway - then they would not have advertised Windows' modularity. Now they'll have to pay the price.

    Another possible example is Expedia (MS's travel agency - which I boycott for that reason). If I was a CIO for an online travel agency why would uses a competitor's OS. Sun + Oracle / Linux + PostgreSQL would be the obvious choices. Let's hope MS's greed makes them loose all IT in this sector.

    I've heard the new VM is really good. RedHat 7.2 has kernel 2.4.9-31 - I read in this article and elsewhere that 2.4.10+ has the new VM is much nicer. I wanna have it!

    I'm sure others have made this point but... All languages on a given computer run on the same instruction set.

    I don't know for sure...but it seems that Microsoft is becoming more of a tech investment company more than a software company. Every tech project that comes along seems to have some money from them. This is making them more undefeatable - even if Linux takes over the desktop someday - MSFT will still be around being annoying.

    on internal websites - they are on Network Drives.
    Zillions of "folders" full of ".doc" files - yuck.
    Since it isn't hmtl there are no links I wonder
    how Google sould deal with that.
