You are wrong. GD-Rom's can NOT be read by normal CD-Roms. GDROMs have a special high density section in the center of the disk that is not readable in anything but a Sega GDRom drive.
The guys who pirate DC software use a special cable they made to interface the serial port on their computer to the Dreamcast and they use the GDRom in the DC to read the disks.
This is entirely wrong. It is impossible to increase their suspicion level. The authorities already think you did it and -anything- you tell them can and will be *manipulated* for the use of incriminating you. Keeping your mouth shut until you get a lawyer is -always- the best course when you are being investigated.
I've worked for 3 different computer repair shops, one of which was a major franchise, and I've never once worked in a shop that calls in serial numbers on hardware.
Blah blah blah. Those types of games weren't made because nobody would buy them. Guys like shooting things and heroically rescuing women, sorry.
Guys also like boobs and hips, again sorry.
Many attempts were made to cultivate a female audience (not just athena), and there were tons of games that had no gender bias, but still females didn't buy games. Should we be sorry for that also? Who's fault is it?
Christ, don't you have a nike commercial to protest or something?
I can tell you this, if every game made was geared towards cultivating a female audience, it would hardly have mattered. Guys -still- would have bought the games. Why is that?
Hrm.. oh wait! Scarey thought! Maybe men and women are different!
Oh christ, not again. Am I EVER going to read a slashdot gaming article without somebody perpetuating this tired and completely false cliche?
Games are the same as they always have been. There are some bad ones, tons of decent ones, and a few really good ones. That was true then, it's true of todays games as well. That aspect of gaming hasn't changed, you have.
Thats not the CPU, thats the slot the cartridge plugs into. It's either worn or dirty. There was a very specific trick I would do that would make a good connection almost every time. Instead of pushing the cart all the way into the slot then pushing the slow down I would push the cart in sort of diagnally in such a way that it clipped the edge of the NES as it went in. This worked most every time.
That is a pittiance. The last thing we need here is GWB putting more conservative justices into the Supreme Court (Our last great defense against the loss of our libertys).

I hate to say it, but a lot of those guys are adults. I know, because I am one. Im 24 years old and when I'm playing a game online I don't have a problem with letting my emotions take over and I act somewhat like a jackass. "Oh yeah take that b*tch!" and "OWNED" are some of my favorite phrases.
No I don't act that way in real life, not even close. I'm not going to try explain why I do this (I'm really not sure) , but I've been to enough lan parties to know that this sort of thing is pretty typical regardless of age.
Quite frankly, I think it's a guy thing.
Although I have never said rude things to a female in game, and generally speaking I dont think people in my crowd who would. I suspect that most of that -is- coming from the younger crowd.
I don't expect the government to keep me going into retirement, I expect the government to pay me back the money they 'borrow' every week out of my paycheck for social security. I'm supposed to get that back, that's not a tax.
Give me whatever works best. I don't feel comfortable buying a computer that looks like it was designed for.. err looks. The reason is probably superficial to quite a few. You see, somewhere at some point part of the cash I'm spending went to fund the looks of that machine. I mean it must have cost a little more to design a system that looks cool. Thats nice for some people I suppose, but I want every last red cent that I spend to go towards one thing; performance.
This is an interesting thing, although I can't say I'm surprised about it as it seems almost mundane for these types of things to happen nowadays.
I wonder how much of an effect this could really have though? Isn't this just attacking the symptom of the problem instead of the problem itself? Not that this is a bad thing, but it is probably the smallest and easiest step towards brining back an endangered or extinct species. The real challenge is fixing the problems that caused the extinction.
I'll tell you whats getting old; People who post a reply like this to EVERY FUCKING STORY posted on Slashdot. Why don't you just shut your pie hole. Damned whiner...
Rating ISP's by their broadband medium is like rating ISP's by their parking spaces. There really is no coorelation. You can have good and bad ISP's in both camps. You are just going to have to do what you did before and try different services until you find a good one. Maybe talk to your friends.
The law doesn't say that he must disqualify himself if there is reason to believe he might not be impartial, it says "shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned"
The key here is "reasonably be questioned".
That is, it doesn't matter what the reality of the situation is, if there is even reason to -question- that he -might- not be impartial, then he should disqualify himself.
The very fact that he had to preemptively defend himself shows that there was reason to question.
The whole POINT Of the law is to preserve the sanctity of the judicial process in the public eye. The makers of the law wanted there to be no QUESTION as to whether or not the judicial process is pure. Now, thanks to this, there are going to be people who think the judge and perhaps MS, cheated. Bad call on the judges part.
Regardless of whether I believe Judge Rehnquist let this impact his vote or not (I doubt it), by the terms of the law I really think he should have disqualified himself.
445(b) says "[i]s known . . . to have an interest that could be substantially affected by the outcome of the proceeding."
His reasoning is that his son is working hourly for MS and hasn't directly worked in that proceeding that there is no conflict of interest. Well that is one way to look at it, and I'm not sure I agree. The argument could be made that this ruling being bad for MS and MS being one of his sons clients gives his son a substantial interest.
That can be argued, so I could let it slide, but this:
Section 455(a) contains the more general declaration that a Justice "shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned."
The judge goes on to interpret this statement in the canonical way: "As this Court has stated, what matters under 455(a) "is not the reality of bias or prejudice but its appearance." "
Now the judge claims that this doesn't count for him because no "well informed individual" would think that there is an appearance of impropriety.
Well the law doesn't say that the appearance only matters after you have been given a chance to argue your case. It says that IF there is reason to question a judges impartiality then they should disqualify themselves. The very fact that he even had to argue his case shows that there was reason to question it. In short, if there is DOUBT then that is all it takes. The actual situation matters not.
Look at how things are going here on slashdot, tons of people are jumping to conclusions, you think the american public would do any better? I doubt it.
Is it any of your business how the l33t hax0r chooses to fly his simulator? I don't think so.
I personally can't stand simulators. I'm an avid PC gamer that frequently buys software titles and whatever hardware it takes to play them, but simulators are not one of my pasttimes. To me a simulator is too much like real life, it takes a lot of hardwork and practice to get -any- kinds of results, whereas I play games to relax.
If I were to try this software, the first thing I would do is have zero-g planes hoovering around.
You speak of ethics as if it is you're the authority, I highly doubt that. In fact, I think you are right the opposite...
FYI: The Realtek 8139 driver included with most distro's is ass. I had exactly the problem you describe with the net just 'going out'. About 2 months ago I couldn't get a decent driver for it, that situation has probably changed, so you should look around.
I wouldn't say the migration was really 'successful', maybe mediocre. I am tech support at an ISP, and I have been getting a lot of calls lately complaining that hotmail is slow and gives errors. That didn't used to happen.
Of course I have nothing to do with that, but it doesn't stop people from calling...

What? You can leave a Windows9x desktop on all weekend and it wont crash?
Seriously, I mean what are the odds.
Love the sluggy quote, that was excellent.

I think you may be mistaken on this one.
A bad message of what? That women are physically weaker? Uhh... aren't they?

Wow good point. I hate all of those other dumb patents too.
Doesn't let Amazon off of the hook though, you shouldn't do something evil just because everyone else is.
