As much as I'd like to see Congress give the USPS much more independence, I do think that unprofitable offices and routes should remain open or be replaced by something to service them (more cheaply).
I know supercomputing centers that do this: the heat from the server room is used to heat the building. I'm not 100% sure of the details but it's worked for quite a long time without incident. I don't think building HVAC is used to cool the room, but somehow heat is exchanged.
Actually, the Amish don't discount technology and science as evil or anti-christian, but they feel that a simpler life is a better life. IIRC they feel that the modern western life distracts from Fod, not that it conflicts with God.
I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with analytics. Perhaps you don't like Google's methods or something like that, but you could do your own on server logs. Analytics can be very useful for figuring out if something is working or not (e.g.: A/B testing and funnel analysis) or just how users are using your site in order to make it more usable.
I'm not 100% sure how this isn't exactly what a future terrorist would need to get something through security. If not everyone is treated equal you create the perfect flaw in the system. That said, the current system doesn't actually protect us anyway, so a flaw in a horribly flawed system is just meh.
Ditto, the deletionists are why I have such mixed feelings about wikipedia. I don't see any good reason a legit article shouldn't be deleted based on some persons definition of fame.
I was in the middle of writing a site for bug/feature bounties that any project could sign up and use, but I'm not quite able to demo it yet. I've slowed work because I got tons of negative feedback on the idea from people thinking that it's a beaten concept and there was no reason to write a (better) app since others are out there. I'm still working, but slowly.
I'm not sure what you're talking about. There was only one matrix movie. There were some movies on the docket, but everyone held true to their artistic values and didn't make them. Good men I tell you; good men.
While we're at it: I'd like to clear up the rumors around Star Wars. There were some very terrible people suggesting that Lucas do some very terrible things including a prequel trilogy. As far as I heard, ideas were drawn up and they were so bad that some of Lucas' inner circle pursuded him no to create a prequel or "remaster" the theatrical version. Those people are saints and heros in my opinion. Can you imagine if they weren't honest with him?
I wish there was a way to pay anonymously without having to go through a single company. There is always bitcoins, I guess, but that's not a perfect answer I feel.

@RepMikeRogers I wonder if calling me a 14yro in a basement & implying I'm uneducated&unprosperous bc I disagree with you counts as slander

6 OF 1 you mean? Or am i missing a joke?

I wonder if this is just as effective as the scanners in the airport, and what the cost difference is.

I wish I had the time and knowledge to write a well-worded letter I could print and mail to my rep and senators.

Full disclosure? I see it often when a link to a site affiliated to /. in some businessy manner appears.

It's funny that the site is just an image and not section 508 compliant. Can something be done about that? Can they be sued for not following the law?
Also, I'd like to see the warrants for all this but I don't have the time or money to follow through with a FOIA.
I'm not sure what you're talking about. Why would I have to recover from something that was never even rumored to exist?

I forked the project and a couple people came with me.

We want a fully decentralized dns system. We're currently discussing ideas and reading acedemic articles on DHT security and attacks.

I'd love to go to NYC and tour the subway. I'd love to see some of the out-of-use stations, but I don't know of/think there is any way to do that.

Are those station public or private? Can they put the scanners in private stations?
Also, private airports don't have to do this BS do they?
I thought the term was FIPS 140-2 verified and certified was just marketing BS.
Because stealing is wrong?
That's actually pretty saddening. I would have hoped that people were more honest and trustworthy than that:(
I did not know that, thanks!
