  1. Re:What a bunch of carp on Global Warming Dissenters Suppressed? · · Score: 1
    Hmm lets take a closer look at this:

    the cold hard truth is that science is a very lopsided mistress, and when you have 99.9 percent of all climatologists saying that extreme temperature variations are very likely to have a very high probability of accellerating (what you call Global Warming), the 0.1 percent who disagree because they get their funding from Exxon-Mobil get their feelings hurt.

    Hmm where did you get these numbers from? I have come across many articles from _many_ scientist who have shown that global warming is a perfectly natural phenomenon. In fact, good old Wikipedia states: "A small minority of qualified scientists contest the view that humanity's actions have played a significant role in increasing recent temperatures."

    a. Global warming (accelerated rapid change) is happening now;
    b. Global warming (arc) is speeding up, tenfold in just the last five years; and
    c. Anyone with their heads still stuck in the sounds will be ten feet under water within ten years.

    This is mostly true. The Earth is heating up, the controversy never had to do with that since it is easily proven with what we have gathered in the past few decades. The controversy surrounds the question of how much (if at all) are humans contributing and what the future will look like (i.e. will it keep getting hotter or will it start cooling down).

    It is too bad that the media gives those minority of scientists all the spotlight made the public believe something that is still quite debated.

Perhaps you should take a trip to Cuba, or any Easter European country to take a look at what socialism really does or did. I find it mind boggling how so many people are so ignorant about our past. Stupid people are those that can't learn from other people's mistakes, and socialism was a mistake. Keep in mind that having having a balanced government, i.e. with some socialist principles, _is_ good.

    Actually I don't think it will be possible to ever phase out fossil fuels in the near future. Here is why. Nuclear power, Hydro, Wind and Solar are none controllable (i.e. increase or decrease) sources of energy (Nuclear is but takes a long time to increase (if possible) or decrease power). Therefore, these energies can form a basis for your energy grid but can't help you under peak hours. The great thing about fossil fuels is that you can just burn more of it to meet peak demand hours.

    One alternative is to have a base that's greater than demand all the time and use the extra energy to create hydrogen through electrolysis. However, this is current economically infeasible.

    One more point about Wind and Solar. The problem with these energy sources is the unpredictability, both in the lack of energy that they can produce and the excess energy that they can produce. AFAIK in Norway they have a lot of wind power but when it really gets windy they have to unload the excess energy off of their grid into surrounding countries for a fractions of the cost. But these two problems can again be solved with hydrogen and one could use the hydrogen for peak hours or when the wind and solar fail. But again, this method is currently economically infeasible.

I find that a lot of people come to Canada, settle into a community that has people speaking their native language, and never really bother to learn English. I suggest you take a look at this, and the rest of that page. Look, allofmp3.com is legal in Russia. Furthermore, under the US code: "importation, for the private use of the importer and not for distribution, by any person with respect to no more than one copy or phonorecord of any one work at any one time, or by any person arriving from outside the United States with respect to copies or phonorecords forming part of such person's personal baggage" is one of the exceptions to "Importation into the United States, without the authority of the owner of copyright under this title, of copies or phonorecords of a work that have been acquired outside the United States is an infringement of the exclusive right to distribute copies or phonorecords under section 106, actionable under section 501."

    So allofmp3.com is fully legal. As for the artists getting their share: "Allofmp3 has signed agreements for this with Russian Organization for Multimedia & Digital Systems (ROMS). According to license --02-36 the Internet-project www.allofmp3.com, has the right to use musical compositions by providing downloads. Under the license agreement Allofmp3 pays out fees to ROMS for downloaded materials that are subject to the Russian Federation Copyright And Related Rights Law.

    ROMS is a member of CISAC (www.cisac.org) - the International confederation of authors and composers societies. ROMS manages intellectual rights in the Russian Federation. All third party distributors licensed by ROMS are required to pay a portion of the revenue to the ROMS. ROMS in turn, is obligated to pay most of that money (aside from small portion it needs for operating expenses) to artists. Both Russian and foreign."

    So stop worrying and enjoy cheap legal music :)
