  1. FUD the ONLY chips that have the ARM core are the 4 that were based on the consoles, even the AMD page on the subject hasn't been updated since 2013, why? Because they only bought the ARM DRM for the consoles that demanded it and never bothered to do anything else with it.

So its only there if you buy one of the 4 ULV chips based on Jaguar, and even then there is no known software in the wild that can even access it. Its a leftover from their deal with the consoles and the only chips you can buy with it are ones that didn't pass muster to be included in the consoles.

Now that said I've built a couple HTPCs using the Jag and they run just fine, one is running Win 8 (the only place Metro makes sense, a 10 foot UI) and the other is running OpenELEC Linux and both run great, if all you are needing is an ULV HTPC for 1080P video or a media server you can stuff in a closet? Works good for that purpose, but the ARM chip isn't an issue.

Less than $550 after MIR.

When you add to this the fact that AMD has been opening their docs, just as the FOSS community asked them to do, giving massive amounts of code to the community with Vulkan being just one of many, no DRM chips like TPM, oh and you can get their chips for often less than a third an equivalent Intel chip? Its really not a hard choice to make.

Bosnian Bill is great, I also love Techmoan and his vids on cool old tech, LGR's vids on old PC games and hardware, and listening to Bo Time Gaming scream like a girl in War Thunder when some BF109 throws some cannon shells his way.

As for Trent, Lars, and all their ilk? Sorry but its not 1975 anymore, you can't write a single song and sit on ass getting royalties for the next 20 years thinking you have it made while the record company leeches are in actuality skimming 90%+ off the top. Now songs are merely the carrot to get butts in seats for live performances as it should be, and as it was for the better part of history. You know what REALLY scares the piss out of you Trent, and why you and your buddies will mouth off but not do shit about YouTube? Its because if you wiped ALL big label music off of YouTube tomorrow the majority would not give a shit as a billion artists who AREN'T bitches would be more than happy to take those fans as they know what songs are for today and value the free advertising. It must also cause you to lose sleep at night to know that any kid can do what you do now thanks to digital recording gear being so cheap and computers being so powerful. Hell when I first started playing music the BEST you could get if you wanted to go DIY and your daddy wasn't a lawyer was a 4 track cassette that sounded only slightly better than recording on a boombox and now I have a digital 8-track that fits in my bass case and with a couple condensers hooked to it frankly gets better sounding recordings than a lot of the live albums of the 70s...cost me $126.

Just as we've seen the rise of indie gaming and indie filmmaking going DIY is becoming the better deal for more and more artists and you can whine and bitch and moan all you want but at the end of the day? If you removed every note you ever played from the web nobody would really care as there are a hell of a lot more where you came from, a lot less douchey as well.

The problem with your theory is this....All the game devs on YouTube have been making it clear if they have to support both (which both MSFT and Sony have said is a requirement) then the original is gonna be "shit mode" with crap graphics and little to no optimization. The reason why is simple...money.

Its not financially feasible to sink half the budget on the weak version and half on the good, if they are doing this they might as well stick to the PC, so the easiest and cheapest way to support both is spend all the money on the new version (as that is what everybody is gonna see in the commercials and on the back of the box) and then just lock the weak version on the lowest settings they can that will still get "kinda sorta" 30 FPS but mark my words within 6 months the framerate will take a dump on any heavy action scenes as they crank things up for the good version.

So all they have really done is kill the main reason to buy a console, the fact that you get 5 years worth of games for a single console purchase. Now you will have decent game play for a couple years at most and then either buy the new version or get screwed and have the system in the "gaming ghetto" with crap graphics and slowdowns.

The problem both AMD and Nvidia are gonna have is that games have hit the wall and its getting harder and harder to push the graphics without hitting the 100 million price tag. Sure there is VR but it still is looking like its gonna be a small niche at best, just like 3D before it, and 1080P appears to be the standard everybody is sticking with which their cards from a generation or 2 back have no issues with. Hell even the middle of the road cards have plenty of power for 1080P, my R9 280 has no trouble giving me 60 FPS plus on my flight games even with the graphics cranked so high it looks like a scene from Red Tails.

Its the same problem Intel and AMD are seeing on the CPU front, even the gamers have no reason to replace their FX-8s and i5s because games just haven't kept up and very VERY few can slam these monster chips we have enough that an upgrade would get you more than a few FPS which just doesn't make sense financially.

I always end up with search results obviously created with SEO spamming, pages of "driver finder" kinda adware shit or some company listing part A but not actually having said part...just more spam results.

As for TFA...would anybody REALLY be surprised if its true? We got laws being written by corps, see Monsanto and GMOs or Disney and copyrights, would it be actually shocking that a company with a highly political CEO would lean shit to go his way? We've already seen both FB and Twitter burying right wing posters and going so far as to delete stories that don't follow their agenda (see the way both buried the German migrant rape gangs stories) so would it really surprise anyone to find out our Internet searches are as rigged as our TV and radio is now?

Uhhh you can buy PCs now that will play most games at 720p if not better for less than a PS4, and certainly less than they'll be asking for a PS4 Neo. Since PCs hit the wall on both MHz and cores a few years back parts have gotten cheaper because there really is no "killer app" to move the more expensive parts.

Just type in "$400 gaming PC" into YouTube and you can find dozens of builds to pick from, both Intel and AMD, they even have parts picker links so you don't even have to know which parts to get, just click the link. Now that you can get both Windows 10 Insider Edition (with extra spying and Bing!) and SteamOS for free the cost of the OS doesn't have to enter into it, just grab the parts and game on.

That of course doesn't even figure in the insane wealth of crazy powerful used systems you can get now for dirt cheap, you can grab a C2Q or Phenom II X4 system on many CL for under $70, throw in a $100 graphics card and voila! A system that will play most mainstream games well for less than the cost of a used PS4.

There has really never been a better time to be a PC gamer, hardware is cheap, great games are so plentiful and the PC platform has so much competition you can have huge game collections for very little money, and everything is so simple a kid can throw together a system now. You can literally build a PC with only 4 parts, case with PSU, APU with heatsink, SSD...that's it, working system ready for install. Its sooo easy, sooo cheap, and HDMI means its plug and play...man I wish it would have been that easy when I first start building systems.

Yeah don't give me that "reused passwords" bullshit as those passwords have been in the wild for many months yet only NOW does it happen, and happen en masse? Because Linux netbooks suffered 400% higher returns than the same units running Windows, even though they were stuck on XP while the Linux ones had the latest versions. How many Linux units have YOU tried selling? I can tell you that I strip or throw away machines rather than put Linux on them because the same thing always occurs, 1.-They buy Linux because its cheaper,2.- Find some program they really want to run isn't supported, 3.- They return it.

So I'm sorry to burst your "its the insiders man!" bubble but I'll highlight this so you can't miss it, People don't buy OSes, they buy programs and then choose an OS that will run those programs, and all those programs? they don't run on Linux.

  12. Oh please! I'm so sick of that "support" line of BS, especially since its been reported that they FIRED the QA and testing teams.

This is about MONEY all right, its about making money off of YOU because with windows 10 YOU ARE THE PRODUCT and the OS is merely a carrot to get to you, your data, and your eyeballs. MSFT wants endless revenue and they make more by spying on you and selling that data to advertisers who then pay them AGAIN for ads on the start screen than they ever made on the OS. with previous versions they got paid less than $100 a unit every 3 years, now? They get paid 365 days a year by advertisers for unlimited access to your information and advertising space on your PC.

I mean for fucks sake man why do you think there is more than 12 pages worth of shit you have to turn off just to get windows 10 to STFU and the vast majority of which you CANNOT turn off unless you are on enterprise...you know, the version you have to pay them yearly for? Because its about turning a one time payment into endless revenue and if that means acting like malware to get more products/users they can sell? Then they are gonna do it.

You can thank Apple and their "thin is in"design aesthetic for this one, as many of the laptop OEMs are trying to make their laptops look as sleek and clean looking as a Macbook and the first thing to go? Easy to remove HDD access.

I had to deal with one just last week to upgrade the laptop to an SSD for a customer and you don't want to know what I had to charge him as just to get to the HDD I had remove the screen, keyboard, and case so that it was nothing more than a frame and a motherboard, its a right bitch to change drives on a lot of these new laptops.

People buy Windows and PCs that come with Windows because they have hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of software that only run on that OS, its called the network effect and its the reason why despite Linux being free forever there are more people that pirate Windows than use Linux as a desktop.

So you might as well have typed "replace your PC with a potato! Up with vegetables!" for all the good Linux would do the majority as without the software the bought the PC to run in the first place you are offering them nothing of value and in fact are offering them nothing but frustration as they try to get their software to work or find an ersatz on Linux, which just doesn't fulfill their needs. Those few people that ONLY use a web browser, which so many here think is the majority? Would be better off with a tablet as they wouldn't have to deal with drivers or patches yet Windows PCs still number in the hundreds of millions.

This is why MSFT can get away with putting out an OS as shitty as Windows 10 and be as douchey as they want trying to shove it down people's throats because the majority have no choice but use Windows and until you can get the majority of Windows software vendors to port their proprietary software to your platform (which will happen when hell freezes over, with Linux being so openly hostile to proprietary they'll stay where they are at) its simply gonna provide no value to the vast majority of PC users, no matter how crap the MSFT alternative is. You want proof? Look at history...WinME was crap...Linux gained nothing. Vista was crap...Linux gained nothing. Windows 8 was a shitty smartphone OS designed by hipsters...Linux gained nothing. 8.1 was slightly less crap but was still shitty...you know where this is going.

More than half the MSFT OSes released the past decade has been deep fried dogshit while Linux has gotten easier to install and run than ever....and still Linux gained less than the margin for error. The reason why that is is beyond simple, its because people do not buy OSes, they buy programs and then choose an OS that will run those programs. And as long as those billions of dollars of proprietary software doesn't run on your OS? MSFT can do what it wants and the majority will stay right where they are at. This is why I predict MSFT will keep extending the "free period" of Windows 10 and keep getting more malware like in their pushing it and...nothing will happen, nobody will leave, and Win 10 will become the majority OS on the desktop just as MSFT wants. The few geeks that actually care about things like privacy and spying will have already run GWX or Never10 and will not be affected...well until the majority of hardware no longer has Windows 7 drivers, then even they will have no choice but get on Win 10, no matter how much we hate it.
