Amazing how much lit and unlit capacity is being strung around world. Once it was cheaper for us to do back haul between continents and back than worry about cross country xfer.
For apps with not big requirements for low Latency changes where you stick the edge nodes. Imagine one factor behind Netflix and amazon launching in 100+ countries in past 18 months.
$600 is nuts but very unwise to mess with such a powerful drug which in very controlled doses treats serious conditions but minor variances outside that dose can lead to death or serious conditions.
That a pint of beer - Basically 500ml of water with a dash of alcohol and some bubbles - now costs the same as a beautiful, intricate and tiny computer.
Blimey I wouldn't do that and running a bog standard stream service never mind an airline with 100 million a day of revenue.
500 servers is about 50 racks. About 500,000 a year plus about 2,000,000 for kit and 4,000,000 for software and licenses and 250,000 for interconnect . So capex 6,000,000 and opex call it 1,000,000 per annum.
I normally rate a major dc failure ( more than 10min ) at about once every 5 years.
Easy business case.
Also generator and ups fail over is tough to test with one dc. Which hit this one bad.
You have got it 'notice is for co-workers not for employer'. Even 2 weeks is enough for key gotchas. Nice morals but also better long term career. Amazing how the best Co workers crop up in other companies you interview with in IT.
I have 3 month notice period. If employers want notice from employees has to be bilateral.
But on side note irrespective of notice period be 1 day or 3 months always do a clean handover if you expect to encounter your Co workers in other jobs.
Insist all Russian sites use a set of authorised ssl certificate authorities. Then insist Russian we browsers honour that list ( as internationally they would be de registered / not trusted in pem list ). Then the agency can spoof / proxy https traffic with access to cert authority private keys.
1) pump hydro ideal for Chile. Find a mountain with 2 lakes 1000m vertical apart. Pump water up at peak solar. Same turbines pump power onto grid after hours. 2) solar thermal - use mirrors to heat liquid salts from nominal to up to 800 degrees Celsius. Give you up to 6 hours outside solar hours to use tradition steam turbines to generate. 3) more long term - use batteries in vehicles and houses to charge in day and release outside solar hours 4) old school - use cheap power in daytime to power power intensive processes such as aluminium smelting 5) basic - heat up water in black bins on roof to provide hot water after hours
1) common condition as people age is loss of fingerprints 2) very easy to spoof - various techniques to both record and then make a plastic overlay 3) worst case fingers can be detached from person
All forms of biometric Id suffer from above to greater or lesser extent. They make great form of Id but any form of authentication ultimately needs some additional data in head
One of the most seriously overlooked parts of VR is exactly that. Has the potential to offer folk with limited mobility, sight or hearing a vast new opportunity.
Add on which auto disable all video, overlays and popups on page with a simple set of buttons to white list where needed. Then whitelist is kept and reused on future visits?
For myself it was algebra taught by nun at secondary school. 'Woot you can divide, subtract, add on BOTH sides of equal sign and is same thing!
I am firm believer that in maths in particular you need to go as far back as possible to get students to grok core concepts.
I hate idea that so many students are left behind in maths early on as don't have these core revelations.
Dude totally mirrored you up to jcl ( amdahl 9000 with cics/cobol ) afraid our way diverged when I went down Perl route.
Still poking '10 rem' was fun using codes from back of zx81 manual?
I think a combined 1000gbit/sec dedicated connectivity to West coast us. So for 4.5million population makes huge sense to make best use of it.

"so it's not the project, it's the thing you put into the project." Well said and bang on.
Fail safe is usually to disable system - as in this case.
As for backup comms route ( manual in building, sms or even plain old modem ) good point
Low delta to land and take off. Lots of easy to excavate resources. Hydrocarbons everywhere. Obvious

Keeps a copy on fb servers. So this change is cosmetic
That is why I keep phone on. If important enough contact me. Otherwise not going to respond to continuous stream of crap.
Notifications from apps ranging from email, slack, Facebook, Twitter.
Just turn them off. You're back in control. My 'out of office' says 'back on Monday phone if important'
Being tested in sw London. Buses have recharging zones under vehicle at stops and traffic lights. No need to plug anything in.
On a side note isn't an electric road basically a tram line?
From a 1 mile sq ring even at peak output that seems like they are using very expensive panels.

Assumed it was some crappy Samsung update. Uninstalled es file explorer and lock screen back to normal.

Maybe option to then share list with others.
Thanks for link I didn't realise with all innovation that lithium is still only 5 times better than poor old lead acid by weight
1) low latency reliable connections
2) simple data plans
