    And this too is something a robotic ship could do without the need for life support systems. One could have a mission that does high-resolution mapping of the surface, for example.

    As time goes on, robots get smarter and smarter, and capable of more and more autonomy. The latency exists, but becomes less and less relevant.

    About a year ago, I got a Galaxy S7 (used and reconditioned). I think it only cost me 250$ or so.

    The major challenge of going this route is that it seems like there are a lot of shady operators out there, so you have to choose carefully.

    I don't think many older people are joining - they have already gotten most of the ones they are going to get.

    And I really doubt that Facebook has been honest about the number of people leaving and the number of inactive accounts.

    That sounds familiar. The communities may have some latitude with regards to aesthetics (disguised as a tree, or a certain color). They might be able to keep them out of certain areas as long as there is another nearby place that is also suitable.

    But they can't just outright ban them.

    It is more than that. I once had an HTC phone with some other proprietary connector. My old Samsung S5 had some other variant of micro to support USB 3. And now USB-C. I don't think I have ever had two cellphones that had the same connector.

    And then there are all of the little gizmos that really only use USB just to charge the battery. Mini, micro - all still quite common.

    I believe the theory is that vibrations of the correct frequency and amplitude can cause the cargo in a cargo ship to liquefy in a similar fashion, but the specifics are going to depend a lot on what the cargo is and what the water content is. The article was pretty light on specifics, however.

    Airplane mode does not turn off all of the antennas. GPS is still active on many phones even while in airplane mode.

    It does turn off antennas that transmit, although on many flights you can turn WiFi back on so you can pay $$$ to surf the web while flying.
