When you boot up in the morning and it takes a little longer than usual, the heart beats a little faster and you think "OMG is the machine going to fail? My data will be gone". Or perhaps there's an electrical storm to liven your day up - "If that thunder gets any closer I might have to shut down the PC, but if lightning hits then everything's toast !".
These scenarios, and many others, all get the blood pumping in fear. If the computer/does/ boot or you/don't/ get toasted by bolts of electricity then the sense of relief is wonderful !
It strikes me that they could all be programmed like "boids" - then one is designated leader. If the leader crashes then another takes over. All the others (non-leaders) act like boids unless they get designated leader. That way they could maybe mimic flocking behaviour ? They all "know" the destination but don't act on it unless made leader.
I'm no robotics expert and no doubt this might be stupidly hard to do - but if achievable that would be pretty cool. I can visualise how I might do it in software but applying it to hardware is probably several orders of magnitude more difficult.
Does anything actually happen in Belgium that's worth reporting ? According to received wisdom it's boring !
Having been there though I loved it - I prefer the term "laid back";)
If there's one thing that coding / fixing / troubleshooting / installing etc has taught me it's patience. No swearing and cursing here, just get the job done and it takes as long as it takes. Getting riled up isn't conducive to logical thought (at least for me). Do the job, keep calm, move on. YMMV
Seconded ! I'm sure the guys know what they're doing but it seems to have a very narrow track (distance between wheels when viewed from the front). It looks kinda unstable. If any car geometrists (?!) can explain why it will, in fact, be stable I'd be interested.
Just the other day someone asked if I'd done any work with HTML5 and I said I was going to wait for a good while until it worked everywhere. They assured me it did, now I find the opposite.
Glad I didn't bother starting now - procrastination has saved me yet again:)
Unfortunately not - as a web developer I wish it were.
In some sectors (business / politcal in the UK) it's up at 10% ish due to companies being locked in to old, old software written specifically to work with IE6.
One site I wrote that is aimed slap bang at those sectors had 12% IE6 about a year or so ago - now down to 8%.
I wish it would die - I hate having to write for it - but my clients don't want to alienate their potential customers.
The promoter who claims it was his idea and Red Bull stole it is, as always, in it for the money. Red Bull should just abandon the whole thing leaving him with the square root of fuck all. It'd save them legal fees too.
Live on the edge guys...

Try it - it's fun
Getting immune to "stuff" is good for you (as a species). News at a 11 - maybe a film at 1. Patently obvious frankly.
Luckily all the crimes I commit are completely disorganised. You'll never get me SOCA !

I had trouble NOT reading it as that !
Shut up. (Yes, I know it's troll food).

I, for one, welcome this robotic oversuit.
The stock market used to be full of bears & bulls. Now it has penguins too :)
I just pirated Kiss's entire discography. Not going to listen to it though as I think it's rubbish !
Is the Register's headline writer now working for slashdot ?
