Eh? I've never seen that. They were 4200/5400 on the 2004 models, and "5400rpm drives standard" on the just-discontinued ones. I never saw 7200 even as an option. Until today.
Oh wait, you were talking out your butt again and missed the $3000.00+ for buying the software and monitor or to go cheap pair of 17" lcd monitors you need to do what lumpy said?
Apple offers Final Cut Express for $300 with the machine. The all-inclusive Final Cut Studio (or at leat quite comprehensive, I don't know everything he does) is $1300, not $3000. And he's probably already got monitors he can use.
how about you revise your "quote" and give us real numbers. If I seem jaded it's because I am in the same boat as lumpy. it costs $5000.00 to get a working video editing platform with MAC.
You can rig up a software mixer in ALSA that lets multiple programs play audio at once. All the programs have to have configurable playback though (many do now, luckily). You can do this by adding to/etc/asound.conf:
Then you just tell the software to use ALSA mixer "swmix". Gaim doesn't quite do this, it makes you do Method: Command "aplay -Dplug:swmix %s". Then it all works.
Would be great if some distros would set this up by default. I know Slackware 10.0 doesn't.
I just cant afford to spend $5000.00 on what is needed to replace my XP/wintel hardware and software. as soon as I can get everything I need for $2500.00 I'm there!
Um...a dual 2GHz G5 is $2000. And there are refurbished G5 towers out there (macofalltrades.com, for example) that work just as good as new yet cost a lot less. Look around.
Sigh...people never figure this out.
Bush is NOT a Mac user. The only evidence of such is a photo of him on the phone with a Powerbook on the desk next to him. Or rather, not quite next to him - at the next desk over.
Bush *has* stated, in an interview in 2000, that he's friends with Michael Dell (down in Texas) and thus uses a Dell computer. The interview is online; I don't remember who published it, but that's what Google is for.
So you're saying Paul McCartney should no longer be allowed to own any of the music he wrote back then, still tours for and plays live, and still makes money on through people continuing to buy the music today?
He doesn't need to make money off of albums he made 40 years ago. He's got concerts, and he released a new album last week. It's reasonable for him to make money off that (and other albums he's done in the past, let's say, 20 years).
There was an amendment to the Constitution, #13 (not to be confused with the slavery one that passed), that didn't allow anyone with a royal title to be in the U.S. government. This included Esq., a title given to...lawyers! Too bad it didn't pass. I can count on one hand the number of Senators that aren't lawyers.
Besides iTunes, there's several other programs that can copy music to an iPod. There's EphPod for Windows, GTKPod for Linux, and GNUPod for the command line of any OS with Perl.
Bush doesn't use a Mac. The only evidence of that is a pic of him with a Powerbook in the background. Hardly convincing.
There is, however, an interview done with Bush in 2000 in which he states that he's friends with Michael Dell, and thus, uses Dell computers.
That's nothing. My dad used to use SuperCalc 3:D He still likes it more than either Excel or 1-2-3, though he's been using Excel primarily for like 5 years. Maybe longer.
The 800MHz G4 iBook only had 256k of L2 cache, as opposed to 512k on the Powerbook. They changed this later, and they both have 512k. There's still the iBook's 133MHz bus to deal with, though.

They've had that for a while. Definately with the previous generation, and probably further back than that.
Apple has never, until today, offered a 7200rpm hard drive in a PowerBook. You are either mistaken or you put the drive in yourself.
Die Hard 3 doesn't actually give you the whole solution. They skip a scene. Myself, I read about it in a book.

Numbers revised, see above. And it's "Mac."

It appears from the store that the eMac has been taken out of regular circulation. Now it's only in the education section.
You must mean your $2,000 Powerbook. The $2,500 Powerbook is 1.67GHz. Nitpicking, but it's a $500 difference. ;)
Sigh...people never figure this out.

Nobody *wants* it I'm sure, but I've seen plenty of people who don't mind it. PC Gamers mostly.
The G5 doesn't require water cooling per se, it just needs it to prevent the fans from becoming consistently too loud.
Nobody seems to care? I guess Red Hat doesn't exist....

Apple isn't using the Pentium D. At all.
So you got it for free?
The Pismo 500MHz is a G3. The last G3 Powerbook, in fact.

The PS2 plays new games, and PSX games that came out in...take a guess!...1995.
...was the manual that came with the Apple II.
Not to mention they also want more than the Radeon 9550 that iBooks have. The PowerBook's Radeon 9700 is better for gaming.
