Let's hope so. How about hardware, too? I can see that being a nice way to turn Norway into a haven for the computer underworld in the not-too-distant future.
Yeah, I'm currently running a Zabbix server monitoring about 90 machines. That's running just fine on MySQL 5.0.27 GA, at well over 500 queries a second and not a single slow page load with a webserver running on the same box. It's only got a gig of RAM, too.
Till I see PostgreSQL perform at the same level, we'll talk. Hell, PostgreSQL runs Zabbix about 9 times slower according to Zabbix's internal benchmarks.
Retry's at 4PM today (PST, so about 11 PM GMT). Apparently their launch software autoaborted as it didn't take account of the hundred milliseconds or so during RF/hardline switchover, ran a system state check during the disconnected phase, reported failures and called abort. Ooops.
Hey, at least it's not hardware, right?
Not just as they fill it- it's gonna be there till there's some other drain (IE firing).
Fuel loads are complete now. Just looked and it's stepped up. Now a lot of boiloff- probably because it's now full?
Not a clue; just saying there's a checklist involved.
I assume some Googling will be useless, but ne'er the less, into the abyss I go...
They're on 110 now, finished safety checks, stopped helium pumps, started helium top.
... who thinks that this makes very little difference?
Surely it's all the same to companies. I guess the only reason this sort of metric would be useful would be looking at how popular versions of your product are.
Don't know if any/.ers are familiar with the mixing console industry, but Midas are doing some pretty neat things with Embedded Linux on their new digital console (XL8).
Probably. From my personal experience sound is a nightmare to get working on Linux, but then i've never really needed it- I use Linux for servers and WinXP on my main machine...
So smart, it will be artificially intelligent and have exabytes of digitized planets and lifeforms, before sending it back to the maker.
In that case, NASA is doing the right thing, no?
We just need the Enterprise NCC-1701D now, and we'd better get to it, before we get digitized too:-)
cl? Oh, right, you crashed whilst typing? Graphics drivers hanging on you? :)

It's the RF channel to the Range, apparently. Give 'em time.
I assume that is their internal network for comms? Only a matter of time, I suppose, before they come back on public and give the verdict.
Terminal countdown abort and they've put the SB back? What?
If you've got the time, care to fill the plebs in on the acronyms?

They're using the akami CDN. Not gonna toast that one, I think. T-25 minutes.
We have voice on the video feed. Sounds like they're on step 103 of the checklist, no change in weather, fuel loading complete.

Easier to model far into the future very general things than it is small things short term.

Is it just me, or are games developers more likely to stick to the tried-and-tested x86/x86_64 arch for their development? New arch, new problems.

Wow, not only bad spelling but not even first post. I'm impressed. Can't wait for Intel iBooks... how long till Apple release a review version, eh? :)
I thought that was the whole point of the cheap kit? :)
...we'll get better PDF support in Dreamweaver etc now!
Yeah, I know this thing. It's the reason i've started going downhill in school; I can't get away from my PC. Now, I must revise. Ooh, Half-Life 2!
Do we ever get a Slasdot post without a Spaceballs reference somewhere in the comments? ;)
