I think it's way more about the Mormons and their rep. I liked SLC but there's a seriously them or us attitude with Mormons that gets really tiresome after a while.

Point A) Nintendo's next console has been announced. with the power of their franchises (mario, zelda, et. al.) they'll sell a lot of gamecubes.
the gameboy advance has like, zero competition. they will rake in so much dough off it they could probably afford to support a loss-making console business.
Point B) Sony is...well...Sony. the company's name is synonymous with quality consumer electronics. the word Playstation is on it's way to becoming another Kleenex or Saranwrap. PC people think of Microsoft as an unstopable Goliath but they're about to jump into a market that Sony basically owns. one where they have almost no reputation.

this is going to be a great fight to watch.

I'm a huge Frank Herbert fan. Besides the Dune books I loved his other stuff, especially Dosadi & Whipping Star. After hearing how bad House Atreides was I stayed away for a long while. I really needed a fix though so I picked up the paperback last week.
    It is absurdly bad.
I'm staggered by the enormity of it's badness. Horrible character development, weak dialog, predictable plot. It stinks.
But what I found most offensive of all was the number of times it out and out contradicted the original Dune books. I mean Jesus, I hadn't reread them in a few years and I was spotting inaccuracies and contradictions left and right. If you're going to base your work of the work of another, at least get your info right.
I'm rereading the whole Dune series in an attempt to cleanse myself of the taint. Just got through with Dune Messiah and, surprise, even more contradictions popped up.I really hope by the time I get halfway through God Emperor again I'm just enjoying how brilliant it is instead of spending half my time thinking, "well there's another thing that Herb got wrong."

I'm sure it's been said at least 5 times already but you should ask people in your area. I have AT&T (gets paid for by work). On the other hand, whenever I'm in LA (family) my reception is awesome. I get calls everywhere.
Talk to people who live where you live because service is all about transponder location and it changes from city to city from company to company.
As for national, I almost never end up roaming. The Digital One Rate plans are a little more priceyt han Sprints I think but otber than patchy service in NYC (which everyone except Verizon has but I'm not giving them a penny after my DSL fiasco), AT&T's been pretty good to me.

Of course, there are plenty of other reasons this will never ever happen which I don't feel like typing yet again but it's not the contract.
