    Yeah I use Acorn pretty much daily, and although it does a good 90% of what I used to do in Photoshop, the 10% forces me to keep CS1 installed (I refuse to update for feature I don't need)

    Still no decent Illustrator replacement though.

    You can actually run the old Internet Explorer for Mac on a modern Leopard system. One of the web guys at my work insisted on it for testing.

    That fact it's based on IE5 (!) and therefore totally irrelevant didn't seem to bother him.

    Also I got some book (I think published in the mid 80s or so - at least there was a year in the title) which tried to teach me that 2+2=5.

    Caused me a lot of problems, that did.

    As a Cornishman, I can definitely say you're wrong there! :)

    At least geographically and culturally, large bits of Middle Earth appear to spring directly from Britain. The Shire, for example, well, it IS the Westcountry.

    Sorry, got a bit carried away there (having left my computer on with a Photoshop document I'd spend 4 hours on without saving yesterday, only to find my computer now has a security patch for software I never use and a distinct lack of my work.)

    I'm not so sure on that. My old iBook G4 is easily 5 years old, and it still runs fast enough to do everything my GF needs it to in a reasonable manner, and it still looks pretty good (the case is scuffed as shit and there's a couple of chips, but it still looks pretty good) The only issues are that the screen isn't very bright (I'm not sure if this is because it has degraded or because over the years LCDs have risen in quality) and the HD is potentially on its way out.

    I don't know if a comparably priced Dell/HP etc would still be working, though FWIW my Compaq bought at the same time died utterly three years ago (motherboard committed suicide and took the PSU with it)

    Including calls. texts etc I get an easy 2 or 3 days out of it. This is using it as an ebook reader, some light iPod use, checking Twitter and Facebook every few hours at work etc.

    If I play a lot of games (or even just a few hours) it lasts about a day.

    If I use YouTube (or any video at all) it lasts about 1 work shift(9 hours or so)

    (this is a first gen iPhone 8GB bought at the UK launch)
