me too, i work at a dot com, as an intern and I seen people come in with degrees that know way less than me, and are like linux, programming, is this new?
"JUST BECAUSE ITS ON THE INTERNET, DOESN'T MEAN ITS TRUE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is the exact quote that I would add, theres been so many times where I have argued with people that think since they found it on the internet it was true, I hate that. Its worse than helping windows users!!!!!
As a big fan of mysql this is something that I like to see happen, I personally love mysql, I think it does a great job. I know we use it at work in a 32 node cluster for our backend processes.
I think your right, i have a friend who tried it with an athlon x2, he said it was not worth it, driver support is crap, and the OS doesn't correctly utilize both cores:(,
"MY OPINION" is the only windows to run is win 2000 on x86, everything else is better left to linux or mac (again thats my opinion).
This seems very interesting to me, can someone shed some light on where exactly theses sites are getting the logs from. Are cell phone service providers selling their customers logs to these sites?
I went to check out this "killer app" and it got a message that says there servers were busy, come back later, lol. Appears they are lacking bandwidth.
well put:), couldn't agree more, the filters that gmail offers are also, I have 3 different email addresses forwarding to my gmail one, and they all go in to seperate labels and automatically archieve, gmail filters rock:).
First of all, I didn't see a name on that article, thats probably for the better, the author seems to be wining about dumb stuff and not looking at the big picture. First of all, any where who has a gmail account knows that it is pretty fantastic, the filtering features, the labeling features, and the size of the email box are all +'s, anyone who takes the time to complain about it being hard to attach a file shouldn't be writing an article like this in the first place.
Secondly, what's wrong with SLI, This page appears to state mostly his opinions about it and not actual facts that support it being on this list.
Thirdly, this whole article is just enraging, theres not very many facts at all, its just mostly his opinion of stuff.
First of all, my understanding is that you can ALWAYS return the lisence to microsoft and get your money back once you have purchased a computer with it on there.
Secondly, Microsoft can not help it if other companies write software only for them, are they suppose to require software companies to write software for MAC as well as there own system?
----------------- I am not defending microsoft in any way, I am just cleary arguring that 'Ucklak' is incorrect.
Man, Google appears to be all over the news this week, They bought 5% of AOL Time Warner, The author of python is now on there payroll (as well as firefox, but that happened a while ago), and now there are releasing some blender.
I'd like to offer another possible reason that some people don't finish a CS degree, but switch to something different.
I'm a CS major attending Wright State University (in ohio), and most other cs majors that I've talked to entered this major because they had decent skills with the windows GUI, and after they began major work, released that they didn't know anything and everything looked too tough to learn. To me it seems like (at my university at least), most CS majors don't use linux or aren't willing to give things like linux/unix (or other complex stuff) a chance, because they have no use for it or it's too hard and they don't want to spend the time, but instead they rely on a windows world.
ARE THEY SERIOUS??? why not install a trojan and give them complete control of what we do? or Better yet lets call and ask for permission to install 3rd party software.
I'm attending a university and I don't like this idea at all, I already have to login once an hour to have my mac address authenticated for internet usage via http, and I'm capped at about 35 KB/s per host, which isn't fair!!!!
But I always download my files to my home computer, then sftp them here, it might take longer, but in my opinion I'm better off doing so.

I'm a C/S student at WSU in ohio, I'll keep that in mind when I am in the middle of my exam and I don't know how to write a program.
Really thought whats the point of going to college if your not going to learn it?

You can also compile the command line verson of mplayer, which appears to handle a few of wmv's alittle bit better (in my opinion).

In this article the author appears to really be close-minded about *UNIX. Does anyone else notice this?
:=P
I bet he's a windows user

Does any one believe this is a coincidence?
I like it, and since apple only has one case for the powerbooks, one like that is sure to turn heads.
haha, i love it

I thought google was saving the internet. On a serious note whats wrong with the internet as it is? Can someone give me an example.
Thanks for clearing that up, I wouldn't have been able to finish the article with out you.
sounds like a plan, a power line & an internet line is all i need.

SP2, they disabled raw sockets, because it relates too closely to linux, and because it makes windows appealing to an advanced user.
I too run gentoo, and love it's freedom. But I too agree with you, microsoft is feeling threatened by linux.
glad to see info on DRM, I'm writing a research paper on DRM for one of my college classes
I attend wright state, its about the same lol
