Don't know about Apple but SUN had a quite large pci card that was actually a mobo with a celeron and some ram stuck on it, you can put it on your sparc station and mount a file to the card (which saw it as a disk) then you can start up the card which was a full x86 machine.
Well the _Release_ of VS isn't any better, but then of course you install the vmadds and your clocks gets synced, to bad they don't offer adds for any other platform than windows (and recently linux) or just open the frigging specs.
Every language is elegant if you know enough about it to do your job and, despite that knowledge, don't have the motivation to learn something else. Me, I started coding in python a year ago, being my first 'real' language, I've come to a point where I'm even productive, so for me python is elegant. But I don't rule out the possibility that other languages are more elegant. Perhaps the best way to find out is to (re)do a project or 2 in another language. But I will continue python for a while, I still find it fun to do work with it and I still have to learn tons about the language and programming in general.
Well if you don't shell out money for shifts and stand by calls don't expect work to get done 24/7. Well at least in most european countries it works this way, don't know about the rest of the world.
Any manager who manages to neglect the signs of sure disaster needs to be fired. Sounds harsh but managers don't get payed their cut for "dangerous" work conditions.
The first one is easy, that's our "suicide" mouse, the other one is a bit harder but much progress is done by implementing a dog gen, however we haven't finished yet but we will give you a call! (perhaps we shouldn't have used the pittbull for this, but hey, it already has that crispy bite).
No matter where you work, you can always ask: So, why do you work here? No matter what the answer, just smile lightly and be polite, works wonders for me. Just remember, don't call a bluf with a bluf and you'll be fine.
If you need 4.x performance you might take a look at dragonflybsd.
more like "i for an i" ...

"reinventing the wheel year after year without ever innovating something first"
... perhaps some will be even more or less round ;-)
I imagine a whole new breed of wheels here

You've got my vote!
Yup, asked them, it was Apple ...
Technology has made it possible for female to reproduce without a male, although this still doesn't mean that slashdotters do reproduce.
And of course: "Up yours!" ;-)
NT kernel + unix + zealots = Linux
