I have an idea to reform the patent system. Instead of giving the company a temporary monopoly, just give them a monetary prize. This way, less patents would be granted, research companies still get their money, and everyone can use the new technology. It would essentially be licensing the patent to the public domain.
Try carrying your laptop around the city while managing to keep it connected to a phone line. That is the difference between dial-up speed and dial-up.
There is also another difference which most don't think of. On a p2p network, you are not just copying the files, but also sharing them with the whole world, which makes it seem worse than theft. But, this only really applies to the first person who uploaded the file and knew it was under copyright. After that, it is less than theft, because once it is already available to the world, it doesn't matter if others share it too.
Which beta did you get, the first or the second? Unless someone responds to this saying it is better now I guess I won't make the switch. And by the way, Wine Is Not an Emulator; it is an open source reimplementation of the Windows API, but yes it does have some compatibility problems.
Yep, as long as there is physical access to the computer, which there has to be for gaming, the kid can always run Linux, at least on a Live CD. Linux + Wine (Cedega) = Gaming!
(look it up, it's not a troll)
I'm going to try that one time. It is really ingenious. Say you are not a troll and get modded insightful. (This is not flamebait)
He was making an observation. He was not saying that he dislikes Lucas or Star Wars. He was saying that when people troll that Star Wars is bad or boring, they get modded informative or insightful.
The ads in search results stay the same. It is the Google ads on other third-party sites that are changing. Also, I think most people prefer the text ads to graphical ones, especially animated and Flash. They just get annoying.
I think many people look at the PSP and DS like this:
PSP = cool, but way too expensive AND expensive games
DS = reasonable price, backwords compatibility to have many cheap games, plus a bunch of useless features tacked on
Even if I am not going to make use of the features, the DS still looks like a better buy.
That is assuming the "1337 hax0rs" don't get hold of the algorithms. I can just imagine people messing around with p2p networks just for fun. Just because something is made for one purpose doesn't mean it won't be used in other ways. I don't blame this specific company, because the technology would have come out eventually, and isn't the solution the same as the one to encryption, stronger hashes?
I don't think I want to learn this language...
...and I was about to tell everyone to buy a bunch of shares of SUNW so they couldn't afford it anymore.

I should have said to the physical access to the inside of the computer.

Exactly. They are supposed to argue with the people from the other countries.

What was the probability that that would happen?
Exactly. Adobe just ruined Microsoft's plan of:
1. Buy Macromedia
2. Give away products
3. Bye bye Adobe
4. Raise prices
5. ???
6. Profit!
That's actually a good idea, since we are calling it property and giving it the advantage of patenting property, they should have to pay tax on it.
What's worse is "waist" (http://www.answers.com/waist). It is a word but I think people mean "waste" (http://www.answers.com/waste) since they use it as a verb and refer to money...

The Open Source community has the most to gain if Nintendo releases a console based on Linux.
Then Microsoft can copy its features for the next version of Windows...
It is probably Fedora Core 2 taking up the resources, not the kernel. Try something a bit lighter...
What are you talking about? Gmail is in beta because they haven't decided yet how much space to allocate to each user. 2.1GB and counting!

It's working perfectly. It says that people can spam, right? I thought that was pretty obvious though that people are able to spam.
Thanks for supporting OSTG...
