    I agree, we need standardized testing to actually license the software and hardware. Drivers need to prove their aptitude before we allow them on the same burden should be true for autonomous vehicles.

    You're describing pre-cable even from the sounds of it, if it wasn't local or nationally syndicated people didn't even know about it since all their information sources were also local and wouldn't have had access either.

    I can't claim to be an expert but as far as i know payola is only used for promotion (e.g. new music), your local radio station isn't being paid to play the Beatles.

    Slightly over a month ago they were fined by the FTC for lying about the money drivers earn, lying about vehicle financing rates, lying about lease terms. Seeing a pattern here?

    He actually doesn't, in North America the model he describes was also the norm in the 90s. One probably has to go back to the 70s before most DJs had control.

  15. The only thing Uber is doing is making easy to run taxis without obeying the rules. These already existed, they were called bandit taxis, they aren't disrupting anything.

    This is the equivalent of starting a car company and making vehicles that don't obey crash safety and emissions laws.

    Its a bit like malware that patches the device after compromising it - only Amazon is allowed to invade your privacy.

  19. One can't entirely believe those numbers though because both the police and judicial system are corrupt too, so we can't really know whether the officials are corrupt or are being targeted by other corrupt officials.

    I don't think in North America the world wars reduced the number of people available in the workforce - remember that is also when women entered the workforce.

    However, the governments started significant infrastructure investments after the wars, and had pumped a ton of money into industry building military equipment.

    And none of those cyclists are affected by what happens in the tournament. Whereas in gaming, cheaters are playing in your matches which directly impacts you.

    Well, in gaming the people giving you money are directly impacted. In cycling the riders are not giving the money rather taking it.

    I always thought it was odd they relied on the client to determine whether the bullet would hit. I would have expected a trajectory (and the server knows the starting point). But I assume the game devs aren't all dumb so there must be performance reasons to rely on the client. Maybe they could check only some of the bullets that hit. It ought to be easy to find the wall hacks from a tape of the game though.
