    They're moving towards a standard based on Chromes current extension API, the standard is also being used by Edge. Creating, and using an industry standard ends up reducing the burden for many extension developers, sure someone might have something tightly knit to the old Firefox API but they've now had several years advanced warning to fix it.

    Its being described poorly.

    BB asked employees to be transferred to Ford, they accepted, BB claimed they resigned letter and denied severance. As best as I can understand these employees weren't terminated from Ford.

    Basically the way Gartner works is they get paid to talk someone up. Think of them as an external PR department that has a tiny shred of credibility.

    It seems likely that most IoT devices will rely on a central hub which leaves the devices as relatively dumb. The hub (or the cloud) side will likely be a less constrained environment so will use a higher level language.

    The other factor is that the thing side has a manufacturing component so will probably be commoditized by Chinese manufacturers and relatively few jobs will exist outside.

    Its not only the battery manufacturers - I suspect one of the prime motivators for new phones these days is that the 2-3 year old ones have abysmal battery life.

    To me the real question is why point of sale systems have any ability to communicate to anything but the payment processor? This, much like the Home Depot breach only occur because of incompetence.

    I wonder if we could convince NATO or some other group to provide free Internet (I guess via satellite, though people would need equipment...) that could help citizens under these oppressive regimes.

    The patent sounds like it would cover how the internet generally works for transferring files from servers.
