It never really occurred to me, but the design is actually remarkably alike. Both arcades and phones make their games artificially time constrained or difficult to suck money out of your wallet.
The big difference is that Costco is by no means the dominant player in any market. Amazon has become the dominant player and is now attempting to leverage that position as consumers have fewer options.
In most cities there is still reason to drive, in most cities transit is good along very busy stretches but once you deviate outside that area buses might only run every 30 minutes, miss it or if a bus doesn't run....
How do you not need to worry about the bus being damaged? Security cameras don't give full coverage. Heck just normal wear & tear on vehicles running 12-16 hours a day is significant.
There are a lot of other costs. Cleaning crews, maintenance crews, stations, graffiti, etc.
Realistically this won't solve anything, the issue isn't the driver, its the other people on the bus (which would be worse without someone in charge) and its far less convenient than your own car which takes you directly from A to B more quickly. As someone who doesn't own a car (by choice), by the time I walk to a bus stop I could have driven to most of my destinations.
I think the intent of the EU was to make users aware that their activities were being tracked, unfortunately they focused on an implementation detail of how that could occur. Really they should be telling users precisely how they are being tracked, data retention and why.
I don't see the self-loathing as universal, there are a huge swath of smokers who are self-righteous and have no respect for the others around them. Nor the environment as evidenced by the huge amount of litter, often smoldering strewn around cities and roadways.
When I first had allergy tests ~20-25-years ago there was a tobacco/cigerette vial. I did test as allergic though I can't say I've ever had the same reaction to second hand smoke as I do to ragweed or grass.
Yep, my Nexus 4 was on 5.1.1 and hasn't received a security update that I can recall since Google released Marshmallow. So what hope do non-Nexus devices have?
One thinks that ultimately there needs to be more separation between hardware, android and vendor customization so Google can just push updates ala Microsoft and PCs.
Ditto, I've always been a slow writer. Back in school whilst writing I would sometimes run into issues where the teacher would wrap around and start erasing the part I was still trying to copy down. As an added benefit it also makes your notes searchable.
Its the same argument as the last time, Microsoft attempting to use their dominance as an OS in order to gain a foothold in a different market.

It didn't start there either, this exact scenario came up 4-years ago in a mortgage scam case - http://www.cnet.com/news/judge...
This sort of thing is why Truecrypt had a number of options around fake partitions etc.
For me I'd rather just take transit unless I just flew into the city and its late at night.
Usually you don't tip the business owner, and we all know Uber drivers are contractors, aka owners operators.
I ran into, along with some friends unskippable commercials that are ~30-seconds long in the past couple months.
Google announced this at Google IO in 2014 - http://www.zdnet.com/article/g...
to make me take off my tinfoil hat to listen.

In my experience Amazon was pretty reasonable with returns. At least for defective items, no clue what the experience would be otherwise.
If you're using Amazon that much, why wouldn't you wait a few days and batch things and qualify for free shipping normally?

Snaps are Ubuntu's desperate attempt to be trendy and cool like those new kids with the phones and tablets.

Could also be said to also enforce most of these ideas.
Maybe the reason you're there alone is that some asshole smoking made the area unpleasant to be in?
eweek is a dead giveaway for trash.
with fewer people? Sounds more like failed acquisitions & contraction to me.
