I know quite a few people that do, such as myself, simply because I find it faster to work. I can also make it easier to read in source code than the spaghetti code most of the GUI apps make, which means easier to track down issues, and there always are issues.
Is anyone else dissapointed? Not that there were no aliens, or super-secret spyplanes, but that the mystery is lost? Area 51 was the fuel for imagination, the "what if" moments that it gave rise to. I, for one, shall miss the curiosity and sence of wonder when looking at the photographs and just imagining....
But in a free market, there is no information other than what the companies themselves voluntarily give up, as the media itself is nothing but a "highest-bidder" approach.
I did, I intentionally pushed to the logical conclusion of "where do you draw the line". You want food regulated, but what about silverware? Got to make sure we don't see a return to mercury/lead for those, or the use of toxic plastics, but then we have plates, which leads us to..... you see the pattern?
Now, I am with you in some respects, that the regulations are custom tailored to the corporate giants as/is, and that needs to stop. I miss the days of the trust-busting, breaking up big business to give the little guy the shot at the top, Theodore Rooseveltites. Now that was how to regulate.
Alright, let's get the government out of it. Oh hey, that reminds me, be careful what you eat, because now there's no limit on the amount of rat feces that a company can put inside of your food. And, with no government involvement, no way to find out either. Have a nice day.
Unfortunately, not true. The numbers on returns were already debunked (links further up the thread) which leaves the reason why you are finding less Linux machines in stores simply that the stores aren't selling as many, hence, leaving more out there for you to witness. Can't look at a netbook after it's sold, yes?
If by recently you mean in the past 6 months, I am terribly puzzled by this, as all currently shipping Precisions use the Intel 82567LM chipset, which has a direct download from Intel's website here.
Puts them with microsoft, who are due to run out in 10 as well....only Microsoft is loosing $2 billion a quarter while Sun is only loosing a few hundred million. Far easier to make up a few hundred million shortfall than two billion.
Earlier today I had an urge to listen to Devo's Jocko Homo from their self-produced movie. Found two copies, only to have the sound removed because a record label was claiming copywrite on the music. Hello, the music is within a movie which is copywrited by Devo Productions, how can you claim to control what is within their own movie?!?
I'm with you here. Sun is very lean, and can survive the downturn with the cash reserve they have as/is. If I was Sun, I'd redouble efforts into bringing more in-house, and consolidating positions of strength. I'd also work on diminishing, or eliminating the departmental infighting that continues to plague them.
Actually, it would be, as each coding team would have less varience to deal with. Smaller, more tightly nitted teams often times can keep code patched far more effectively than shotgun approaches, trying to be everything for everyone.
The Justice Department had a pretty solid case at the beginning, and the Prosecutors bungled it either due to negligence or incompetence. So, the head of the dept changes, reviews, and cans one of the best cases as an example to others in his department that the "no holds barred" approach was no longer acceptable, and that all cases would be held accountable. I tip my hat to the new AG, godspeed in cleaning house, you have a mess on your hands.
The irony of this is that they listed it as a B.C system, which fits, as Windows truely does feel as if it came from pre-AD...
Teaching Linux to the masses? Sign me up, I'll get on the plane tomorrow...

IBM's Lotus, the german-created StarOffice, WordPerfect Office...
Your very answer demonstrates the problem.
Um, you know Disney was the backing behind Dimention films, a major horror film distributor, right?
Out of curiosity, how did Hitler and Mousillini send fan mail to a man who was 30 years dead by the time the war started?

Two words to you, Ultra 10
j/k. Love my Suns.
I say dig up the old Project Orion files and let's start getting serious about space exploration and colonization.

Ahem, this wasn't the music, it's a clip from the movie, which is owned by Devo Productions....
