I live in Louisville. I work 1 block from this convention center. Louisville, is not a rural area. It's not as urbanized as New York, San Fran, Atlanta, Detroit, but its a decent sized city with a decent bit of goings on. Two excellent theatres downtown, Actor's Theatre and Kentucky Center for The Arts. Those are 2-5 blocks from the convention center. There's the Frazier Historical Arms Museum downtown also, fun for you gun buffs, Louisville Slugger Museum...duh....4th Street Live! is another recent development in Louisville, pretty decent place for nightlife, its just a few blocks from this convention center.
I guess the point of the post is to dispell myths that would discourage attendance.
Actually yes it is...I can't remember specifics.. but I had the misfortune of watching Attack of the Show on what used to be TechTV. They previewed the technology and it was quite amazing. The light is just hotter (if you understand hot in terms of light) than light without that technology. Very interesting stuff, but hard to describe until you see it.The flashbang effect is a whiteout, that fades back in. this is totally different.
I say bring it on.. let HD become the standard. Ever since I picked up by 57" hitatchi with 720p/480p/1080i support, I have been blown away by playing Soul Calibur 2 in 720p (although in 4:3 which is strange) and NBA2K3 in 720p is just gorgeous. Tekken 5 for the PS2 supports something around 520p (don't remember) and it too, is beauty in motion. The advent of HDTV could really help console makers pull moderately commited PC gamers off the desktops and onto the consoles. Granted the price of HDTV is not right for a great majority of the public, but hey niether were CD players around 1984-1989, and look at what a low-cost standard they have become. I see HD as the technological future of gaming, that and standard 5.1+.
The reason, it seems, that they don't allow account overwrites is that someone could "theoretically" steal your cds and make a new account, thus overriding yours. That's not fair, but neither is the other way.
I think, theorizing obviously, that Blizzard doesn't want to entangle itself in any, "OH NOES THEY DELETED MY SWORD OF HAPPY+4!!!111" arguments, thus no deleting of accounts.
Seems to me that a good way to avoid this mess in the first place is to give away the software in stores, and then have an activation cost for the first month. Then who cares who has what CD. To create a new account, you still have to pay them for it when you activate the account.
Now this makes sense to me.. I agree with that for sure. It seems like that would solve the problems I just outlined.
Why no, I haven't. I also haven't ever designed or built a car either, yet I still expect my car to WORK when I go to start it. Guess what, the day I go to start it, and it jumps into drive on its own, I get to sue the company. It is THEIR job to make it ready for the consumer, not the other way around.
Guess what? you get to sue them because it can cause harm to you, and there are very serious safety precautions involved there. Lag & downtime doesn't cause you harm IRL, comparing these two things makes no sense.
If I cancel my account with these hacks, do I get my game purchase refunded? I didn't think so It's like eating a steak, and then saying.. I wasn't really fond of it.. I want my money back..
Fuck I hate apologist fanboy asshats Fuck I hate people who post as Anonymous Coward.
Have you ever played or created a MMO game before? Do you have any idea how much time and work goes into it? Can you account for all possible situations? The login server problems are really not that bad for me.
As long as they communicate (which I feel they have fairly effectively) what is going on and how it's going to positively impact our experience going forward, then why does it matter? You're always going to learn things after the fact. That's why the Menethil Harbor boat to Auberdine was removed until it can be fixed.
In short.. get off your high horse and cancel your account if you're really THAT upset with it. As soon as you can architect a perfectly stable MMO system capable of supporting 600k accounts then I'll listen to your "haxx0rd access db" comment...till then cancel.. or deal with it
because gf2 (as of a recent patch) now properly disabled all the graphic neatos like vertex and pixel shading.. they are probably on by default on the gf4 (if it is supported by them) this would explain your drop.
Microsoft announced that they will be dropping the standard polygon approach in favor of using a new CircularSDK. Release titles are said to include the mystify screensaver for windows 3.1
If you're new to programming, and actually want to code this yourself, it's going to need to be a simply game with little to no graphics. Implementing a OpenGL game is NO trivial task.
A game I did in Java was the simple squares game where the object is to arrange the pieces like so..
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 *
So I wrote a Java app that would mix up the squares like so
4 7 2
* 1 8
6 5 3
and allow you to move the pieces around via the *blank* square. This still wasn't trivial, especially for someone new to Java, much less programming in general. Not trying to disparrage your efforts, but being new to coding is probably your biggest disadvantage.
You're right.. since I'm out of that age group now, I'm not really thinking in those terms. There isn't much to do for that demographic.

Same boat here. I have paid my Cingular bill with Firefox since it was at 0.8

No matter how many decent games they turned out since, the gaming gods would never redeem their souls for the shitmess that was ....Daikatana.

Everyone who buys the goofy foot version will have to hold their controllers upside down.

Didn't we see this already?
