Why telemarketing can't be made totally illegal in the first place? Does anyone actually know anyone who actually wants to get phoned about their mobile phone plan or magazine subscription offers?
I would at least prefer to have one last refuge from all the advertisement these days.
And why can't we do both? It's not like recycling some bits of plastic is going to end all progress on earth.
Anyways, recycling bottles would be more efficient in the US if they switched to reusable hard plastic bottles.
The #2 rank is the European Union which is like 25 seperate nations. If you take the average GDP of the whole EU it is only like $466,000,000,000 (466 billion) per nation per year. The USA does more than twice that per month!
Uhh.. maybe it has something to do with the fact that average european country is hell lot smaller than the USA?
Anyways, I think EU at least at some point took over USA in the GPD race due to the weakening dollar.
Lot of mobile phone technology was pioneered in Europe. SMS and IRC were invented in Finland. Those are just examples I can think of right now but there are many more. Are you willing to give up the control of anything that has not been made in the USA to other countries? Didn't think so.
Anybody got a list of those MEPs who voted in favour of this? Just want to make sure there are no familiar names.
Too bad the EU constitution was rejected, it would have given more power to parliament instead of the comission which is composed of appointed bureaucrats instead of elected representatives.
Indeed, what is the motivation to do a honest job if it's not properly paid. Walmart employees and such aren't very loyal employees as well. Can't really blame them.
Microsoft first censors words like freedom in their chinese blog system in order to appease the authorities and now this. But god forbid if average joe would want to visit Cuba.
When PS2 was announced there were too (marketing) people asking "how are we going to use all that power?!"
Now we still have to live with the fact that a new playstation wont be replacing the old and nowadays really underpowered PS2 for a year.
So what would prevent the potential terrorist from hijacking somebody else's internet connection (think WiFi) or just using a public access terminal? Those stolen guns were legimate in the first place too.
I wasn't being pro-gun control but I was just merely pointing out that some freedoms seem to get better treatment than others.
Keeping records of gun purchases for a long time is out of question but recording what sites the citizens visit is okay? I can see who has been lobbying hard..
Guess it has something to do with the fact that the cold war is over. Couple of bombs probably didn't seem that bad compared to a nuclear holocaust back then. What a bunch of pussies have we become now.
I still prefer the absence of totally ridiclous harrasment suits over the remote possibility of suing a gigantic corporation and actually winning.
That is why we have consumer protection agencies to do the dirty work instead of us consumers.
40 american dollars per month? Either you 'murikans are getting ripped off or dollar has really plummeted lately.
Have they changed that awful hard drive yet?
Don't think Orwell liked the USSR. He had been criticizing it a LOT before 1984 was even written.

FYI Finland is even more sparsely populated than the united states.
Indeed, battlefield 2 will later be released for XBOX and XBOX 360. Hell, they will even have much less cheaters due live restrictions.
XP is as suspectible to spyware as Win2K. The only thing that probably makes even a bit of difference is XP firewall.

Thanks for the info, I thought Germany had embraced software patents after I reviewed mp3 patent portfolio.
This crap would have never flown in germany, for instance.
:)
Uhh.. you do know that Germany has software patents right? (IIRC)
On the other hand it will be a hell lot harder to push the same thing in tens of national parliaments than in EU itself.

remember that "loser pays" just introduces other unfairnesses when the poor can't sue the rich.)
Class action lawsuits anyone?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indymedia All hail the wiki.
Of course not, they have lobbyists and users that actually do something besides bitch on forums.

somebody is in need of extra funding. Just bring out the terrorists and the koreans (the EVIL commie ones).
