They have not yet solved the problem of humans surviving several months of radiation in space yet -- I'd call that a "new technology that needs to be made", although I suppose 100 tons of lead shielding would probably do the job...

  3. Getting rid of SIM cards would be a good thing. My friend was disabled, he asked the T-Mobile counter rep to install his SIM card for him in his new phone... the counter person broke the SIM card holder, then told my friend that it was HIS problem to find a replacement, T-Mobile wasn't responsible! I'd still like slots for Micro SDHC cards though.

  4. Because the Faraday cage would prevent the phone from RECEIVING calls? Likewise, shutting off digital data stops text messages, doesn't it?

  5. When switching between T-Mobile and AT&T, I had to buy new SIM cards, which makes me wonder if this comes locked to a specific carrier. (The sad thing is when I switched back to T-Mobile, I had to buy another SIM card!)

  6. Does it have a power button, or do you just wait for the battery to go dead? Using the touchscreen to turn something on means the touchscreen needs to constantly be drawing power...

Yes, they are slow. I bought my daughter a low-end Lenovo with only 32GBytes of flash for a "disk", and had severe problems because the latest Windows 10 Update requires 10GBytes of disk space. Had to plug in a USB drive, still only succeeded after 3 tries and doing massive cleanup of the disk.

The "more to the story" is: I slowed down at a signal because I couldn't see it as the sun was shining directly into it. The car behind the car behind me ran into the car behind me, knocking it into my car. The single woman driving the car that caused the accident (due to following too close) had no less than 6 kids all under the age of 6 in the car, many without seatbelts or car seats -- and no insurance! 2 of the kids got taken to the hospital. Apparently, the cops thought if they could blame the accident on somebody that actually HAD insurance, it would pay several thousand dollars worth of hospital bills and fix the woman's van. But of course, as soon as prosecutor looked at the case, it was marked "no complaint" -- but I still had to appear in court for them to tell me there were no charges.

Yep, it's real: a $600 power cable! Also hilarious, but available everywhere: HDMI cables with gold-plated connectors! For the uninitiated, HDMI is a _digital_ signal; it's either off or on, so there is zero degradation of signal to to impedance (down to the point where the signal is so bad it can't tell a 0 from a 1).
