  2. Thanks, I hope we get a patch for SMBv2/3 even if they declare SMBv1 dead.

  3. Can you post where SMBLoris works on SBMv2 or v3? I haven't seen that, but the reporting has been pretty vague. Still you should remove (not just disable) SMBv1 where you can and block all inbound SMB traffic except where needed.

While not a tweet, he's also screwed himself on the Comey firing when his press office rolled out a bullshit story about how he was fired on the advice of the attorney general's office, but then told a reporter that he was going to fire him anyway because of the Russia investigation.

I'm not sure why that's a problem. Self signed certs already give you a warning page, so no difference there. For Enterprise certs they've been warning us for quite a while to change out our CA root certs to stop using SHA-1 and start phasing out the old certs. However, if a business hasn't done that, they're not breaking things.

I must have missed where car makers went back and retrofitted cars with airbags and ABS at their own cost.

Sure you can put these on yourself, just like you could add a hardware or software firewall to block inbound SMB. That would have stopped the lateral infection of this worm. No source code needed, just a bit of care and attention.
