And I suppose that you'll show me how to accomplish this for the low low price of only $39.99*?
What proof do you have that those captured at Guantanamo Bay are innocent?
What even circumstantial evidence do you have that they are not? So you, in your infinite wisdom, know that there are no innocent people there (and in Abu Gharib)? And you base this on what, the words of our leaders who have proven themselves so competent at this sort of thing?
The US has never committed genocide, and you're trolling when you say that.
The Native Americans. You are, of course, aware that at one point US law provided few if any penalties for murdering them as they were not "quite" human, right? You do know that they were murdered in huge groups by our military under government orders?
You are clearly the troll, either that or disgustingly ignorant.
Fine. If your agenda revolves chiefly around hating the US and trolling/., so be it.
I love the US. In fact, I love it so much that I am willing to honestly look at it's actions and step up like a man when it does things which are contrary to its nature. The complete lack of such courage and integrity which is demonstrated by your inability to face such basic simple undeniable historical facts shows your character quite clearly, and had you the courage to honestly look yourself in the face, you would be disgusted as well.
Comparing something like Guantanamo Bay, where foreign non-soldiers (for lack of a better term) are held, with China, where the government wields absolute, arbitrary power over every citizen, is simply wrong.
So kidnapping a bunch of innocent people and keeping them in cages and torturing them is ok, as long as they aren't *all* your citizens makes such a tremendous difference?!?
America's human rights record is vastly better than China's, and they're not even in the same league.
That's hilarious. I suppose genocide doesn't relate to human rights in your book.
Wow, so your idea is that fighting a few wars is the ultimate evil? We've done everything you have accused China of in your post and more.
Now if you truly believe these idiotic lies you are posting, then how about you come up with some actual comparisons. For example:
How many democratically elected leaders has China overthrown to install brutal dictators who murdered 10s of thousands of their own citizens? Now how many has the US?
Which of the 2 has committed genocide?
See, your argument is worth nothing when you leave out all the juicy bits.
Here's another hilarious bit:
Contrast that with the U.S., which did invade Iraq (an act I'm not going to justify because it was probably a mistake),
Hot tip, Sparky. There is no probably. It was all based on blatant lies. If you hate your country so much that you don't have the courage to look it in the eyes, then please stop making your feeble attempts to represent it. You are embarassing those of us who do actually give a shit about what America once stood for.
You live where you want, I live where I want, we're both happy.
At least until some condescending asshole from NYC decides to berate people for living where they want...
No, it's the fact that you expect the city dwellers to subsidize your lifestyle.
Now, if you were actually willing to pay what it takes to live where you do and still have the amenities which you have due to our charity, then you would have a point. Since you are not willing to do that, then you should have a little more respect for those upon whose charity your life depends.
It's not a question of condescension, it's a question of responsibility.
but did you ever think that the reason Kerry lost is because he scared the average middle of the road voter?
No, because it isn't true. Bush's campaign scared a lot of voters by spreading ridiculous lies about Kerry which nobody who bothered to check into the facts believes. Unfortunately, that is a very small proportion of the population.
He's a pathological liar, he's undermined US support at every turn
Ummm..... You are describing Bush. WMDs, yeah right. "Compassionate conservative" Hot tip, he is neither. The list goes on and on. Our credibility in the world is in tatters and you have the audacity to say Kerry undermined our support?!? Wow, I will never understand how people are capable of that sort of doublethink.
The Republicans ran a middle of the road candidate
Yeah, I think I'm actually responding to a troll. Bush is far to the right of Mussolini.
Gay marriage might have changed some votes, but it didn't change the election.
Wow. You apparently weren't watching the same election the rest of us were. According to the exit polls, the vast majority of the people who voted *for* Bush disagreed with him on the war and disagreed with him on economic policies. The number one reason that was given for choosing him over Kerry was his stance on gay marriage. Now, let's review the candidates' stances:
Kerry was against it, but felt that it was a states rights issue and that the federal government had no business getting involved.
Bush was against it and wanted, for the first time in history, to adopt a constitutional amendment to discriminate against a class of people. He did this in direct opposition to the Republican party's stated platform of supporting states rights over big government.
BTW, a lot of people who are opposed to gay marriage really don't care, except that they think the Left is trying to create a new federally protected ( and subsidized ) minority group.
Which is as ludicrous as the rest of your post. As the stances above demonstrate absolutely, the right is trying to create a new federally attacked minority group.
I'd say you were just a sad little troll, but the reasons for the election turning out the way it did clearly demonstrate that there is a huge chunk of the US population that is so far out of touch with reality that they actually do hold diametrically opposed ideas in their heads at the same time, so maybe you actually do believe what you are saying. It probably won't make any difference to try and reason with a person like that since if you were capable of rational thought, you wouldn't be able to do that.
No. It doesn't because there are many, many churches and people in that church, and to say "all priests" is like saying "all Democrats" or "all software engineers."
Except that I didn't say "all priests" so your argument falls apart since it was a simple minded straw man response.
The policy of the Catholic Church was to aid and abet in the cover up of the rape of children. They also took action *in their official capacity* to help these child rapists avoid taking any responsibility for their actions.
You can spew all the nonsense that you want, but that will never change those absolutely proven facts.
So it does not matter in the least if there was one child raper, or a million in the church. The official policy of that organization is to aid in the rape of children rather than act in an honorable manner.
So giving them as an example of a poor put upon organization that is out only for spiritual good is utterly ridiculous.
If they had a single scrap of interest in living up to what they claim to believe, they would much rather see their whole organization gone than aid in the rape of a single child, yet they actively helped in the rape of hundreds at the very least with the sole aim of preserving their power structure.
Now if you can find any place where Jesus said that that was even remotely ok, then and only then, will you have even a shadow of a point.
I myself just decided to really give Skype a second look - and things are really looking up as far as PC/real phone combos go.
IMHO, Skype is awesome for computer to computer calls and Skype out is really pretty reasonable.
We use that and we also have a VOIP phone through Packet8. It's $20.00 a month for unlimited US and Canada. We just went on a 2 week vacation and brought the "phone" along and used it from all the friend's and family's houses where we were staying. Pretty cool.
And don't most religious organizations exist firstly to take care of the spiritual needs of its members?
The Catholic Church has many precious works of art, but it also has dioceses in the U.S. where parishes are being closed because the cost of maintaining church property is too high (especially with high legal settlement costs)
So you are saying that most churches exist for good holy spiritual purposes. Then you give as an example the single largest denomination in the world who has to close churches because *they actively worked to allow and cover up the rape of children?!?*
Does your head ever feel like it's about to explode from cognative dissonance?
Since most holy workers are not in a position to go out and earn an income, don't they need to be paid, so as to pay their bills and feed themselves - or should *God* provide that directly?
Well, if he really wanted them doing what they are doing, don't you think that he would?
Smaller government, states rights, lower taxes, free trade: sounds like a quest for undiluted power to me.
But what you described is pretty much the opposite of the Republican party. I know that they claim to be into those things, but the simple fact is that they haven't acted like it in over 20 years.
Hell, the primary reason Bush got elected is that he hates gays more than Kerry does. So much so that he wanted the federal government to step all over states rights by passing that idiotic amendment while Kerry wanted to preserve states rights. You really need to learn that actions do actually speak louder than words.
Hello, welcome to the 21st Century. Would just like to correct you - there is such a thing as MULTIPLE users in Windows - NT, 2000, 2003, XP (Home & Professional) all have this facility.
You can have multiple users, but at their heart, they are all still single user operating systems.
Try and install a service and have it run as you, or some other non-system user. Works, right? Now reboot the machine. It will not run until you log in at the console.
You also dismiss the idea of globalization entirely
I'm not a fan of this "global test" stuff, if that's what you mean, and I'm unapologetic about it. The United States is a sovereign nation. We have no obligation to get anyone's permission to do anything. If we can get others on board for things like Iraq, great. If we can't, we're going to do what we think is right regardless. Too many other countries have agendas that are in conflict with ours for me to feel comfortable submitting our policy to their approval mechanisms.
Globalization has nothing to do with the "global test". Your response demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of both issues though.
The "Global test" idea has nothing at all to do with letting any other country have any say whatsoever in how we run our policy. Had you actually listened to what was said rather than what you wanted to believe was said, then you would know that. Have you ever dated a girl that every single one of your friends and family hated and/or thought was psycho? If not has one of your friends and family done that and you agreed with everybody else thatthe bitch was crazy? Most people have been in one or the other of these situations. Eventually, the person involved with the psycho will usually come around to a realization along the lines of, "What the hell was I thinking".
That is what the "Global Test" is. When essentially the entire rest of the world including about half of your own fucking country thinks what you are doing is wrong, stupid, and crazy, then it bears some rational thought and a fair and honest discussion.
This has never happened with the Iraq situation.
We are there based on proven falsified evidence, and a continually shifting justification. Had an honest discussion of the issues been possible, then we would not be there. It is possible that we might have gone in later for legitimate reasons, but only after we had actually made real progress against the actual enemies who attacked us.
Globilization is something completely different.
Continue to rest easy in your bed tonight, the Marines will continue to protect you no matter how much you despise them.
I don't despise the Marines. I come from a military family. The plain and simple fact is that our military in Iraq is doing nothing whatsoever to protect me. They are actually making me and my country less safe. In the first place they are ignoring our actual enemies, and in the second place they are creating new enemies. I don't blame the individual soldiers for this, and I'm certainly not saying that they are intentionally going around murdering civilians. The fact is that the US Military is being used for purposes diametrically opposed to the best interests of this country and for the benefit of a very small segment of our population. So I respect that you went through a lot of shit and that you have friends still going through it, but regardless of your reasoning for being in the military, due to the goals of our leadership your actions did less than nothing to defend this country as the country we invaded was not one of the several (Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, etc.) who actually did attack us.
Potential jurors don't need to answer questions about their childhood. Are you materially biased, or aren't you? Simple. In return, lying during voir dire should be made a high felony with a minimum 10 year sentence. Don't fuck with justice.
. Oh yeah - and any member who votes in favour of a gerrymandered district goes to prison for 20 years. Don't fuck with my representative democracy.
Please let me know when you will be running for an elected position in my area so I can vote for you.
You deserve a funny for suggesting that someone is on crack but has not been exposed in the inner city.
Not really. At least in the Chicago area, crack and heroin are worse in the suburban areas than in the city. Granted the west side is scary as hell still, but the suburban kiddies outweigh the city addicts by a substantial margin.
Probably has something to do with how freaking boring suburbs are.
Seriously though, this was actually the premise of a recent Clive Cussler book. Does anybody who might actually know something about it care to comment on the likelyhood of this?
