Would you buy a product in US while you get exactly the same product for half price from China? I am not advocating one way or the other but this is how the system is suppose to operate. Or I go one step further, this is all based on people's fundamental drive for greed (or you call it productivity?) - don't blame the "system".
PC definitely was as parent said. I recall those desktop with a 'turbo' button where u press will double the speed (show in 7-segment LED) from 16 to 32MHz....
I am not an expert but, trials expected to begin in humans soon - sounds like it just started phase 2 approval. Typically that implies many years away from general use still..... Phase 1 == safety; Phase 2 == efficacy in small group; Phase 3 == efficacy with statistical significance. And typically phase 3 takes most time and resources. If this is the first time on human, it implies just starting phase 2.
Hmm... my take is, app doesn't progressively become worse but there are just more and more. Similar ideas are implemented over and over (instead of when iPad/iPhone was just out) - nothing is really "cool" any more because of that (more same old). I'd argue the "good" app are as useful as before (how can a pdf mobile reader be less useful today than before?) - but the novelty is no longer there not because of app, the novelty of the tablet+app uniqueness are well exploited (touch-base, mobile, internet connected, GPS..etc.). There won't be a whole lot of "cool app" until there are more novel hardware integrated into a tablet platform.
I don't know but it's plausible. Randomly sending stuff seeing it misbehave is kind of ad-hoc, but one can possibly target the code change at each release then there's no need to read millions lines of code.
Further, if one manages to shut down 4chan, it'll actually spawn 5chan, 6chan, 7chan....etc.
I'd have to think the design of the rounded edge vs iPhone 4/5 squared edge contributes to this weakness as well.
Maybe they'll provide a free 'reinforcement' case? Like the antenna-gate bumper?
"... China, stop manufacturing cheap shits that we want to buy. Our citizens have great appetite for buying local for 2-10x the cost."
I'm just curious on your initial motivation for a PhD? Maybe research/academic is an option?
...they are the product. Need more repeating?

...allow protection to UI design? Put legislation around it, negotiate them into free trades agreement and try to enforce them?

What's their number?
If they add up the females and non-whites then it'll be more than 125%.

Greenland is more of a problem - isolated and no people!
Maybe not the users, but ask the 'corporate' or the 'CIO' level see what they think of Android, iOS and Windows.
Right on the money. +++++
It's 45 years of age with teenage kids giving him trouble, bad spousal relationship, mid-life crisis...etc.
Well you should have published a paper about it :)
Plenty of non-Apple users still hold the believe that Apple's success (up to now) is because they spend on marketing.

We have the original iPad @ home and it's still alright.
Watching consecutive episodes of somebody unconscious in a dark, tight place :)
FYI I also recall CRA claims other than those SIN, the system was not breached before.
I think the arrest is warranted. However, WTF is wrong with CRA people, seriously. Shut the damn thing down as soon as they find out it is vulnerable.
We had TV, PC, gaming console and now tablet.... what next?
