I was actually born and raised in the community were RIM is located and I feel a little let down that a company can collect on someone elses hard work.
Patents need to be re-evaluated because one could patent anything and the idea will eventually become reality and they will collect.
The way things are shaping up on the internet, it's no surprise that people are going to utilize the available traffic for benefit. Online advertising is and will become and even bigger industry.

One could make updating IE a full time job. It's rather annoying that you have to worry about this type of thing while browsing the internet.
