For the average user, I don't think they really think about those factors. The majority of people will see the free long distance and make a decision on that. I think it should be noted on the box of the VOIP phones that there are still some real issues with the network.
One should also take into consideration that Google has such an effect on the market that they enter that they alone could make a large impact. Whether a market is dieing or not, someone at Google has an idea of where this could go.
I couldn't have said it better myself. I don't mind our meetings because we don't spend time on agenda and things that aren't important. Touch on the important subjects and get the heck out of there.
Microsoft and Quality in the same sentence? Quality would be releasing something that doesn't need as many patches. I don't think one can call a patch 'quality.'
It's interesting, but for some specific uses, IIS does a great job of handling traffic. For example, streaming video from servers seem to run a lot better on IIS and seem to be a little less resource intensive. I'm not sure about the overall use of Hotmail, though.
I haven't installed Anti-Virus software on any of my home machines simply because I don't find that they're affective anyway. They still miss stuff. I believe that I know what websites are safe, use FireFox for the ones that aren't and I still miss a little Spyware. What's the difference? I've never had an actual virus, so I'm not going to waste system resources.
Definitely a good win again for FireFox. Microsoft better be focusing on launching something respectful with IE 7. (Did I say Microsoft and respectful in the same sentence? Damn!)
Not only do they want them, they'll use whatever Google releases because of the hype that they bring. People will use them just to use them and may not have any personal benefit.
With all the mention of Western Digital's failing, I haven't had one die on me yet. (Yes, I know, it will probably be ironic that one dies today). To the story, I think this is a big move for Seagate and I hope they can utilize some of the greatness in the Maxtor drives.
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they could use the computers for other things, such as gene mapping and quit giving away thousands of dollars for something like this.

Why isn't that I can't come up with something like this?
Man, I should give this a +5 for longest article with fewest comments!

Wasn't this also the time in which Jobs left? Only to return to completely turn around the company?
If anyone can do it, Google can! Blah... Atleast they have some unique vision.
It doesn't surprise me seeing as this is now a corporate adventure...
Awesome! Now I can speak to my oversea's bride without Babelfish!

They're going to polish up the Apple logo a little bit and call it a re-design.
Wasn't this a highschool class? Oh wait, "pointless waste of time" was highschool. ;)
Well, I guess all the speculation about Google OS is true. Wonder what they're basing it off of?
Browsing on a phone that small, would still be annoying, no matter how fast it is.
This better not reduce my click through rates on my ads. I'll be pissed!
Well, that increases my chances for a date!

Patriot Act? With the President tapping phone lines, who really cares what laws are in place? Apparently they don't matter.
Why does Microsoft have to comply with this ruling?

That's interesting. I like how they took the time to do some timeline graphs.
