Would throwing another billion at the problem have changed the outcome? No. Sorry, I despise Bush as much as the next guy but at a certain point, the "bush sucks" rhetoric gets old.
What anti-Bush rhetoric? The article summary said Bush had re-focused on the moon,mars and beyond. I simply pointed that Bush had cut NASA spending, which is a fact.
Neither did I suggest spending more money on the shuttle would solve the problem, it was just an example of the state of the current space program, i.e. not good.
It's the same problem the record industry have. One particular film/song is successful so they just clone it and flog the same formula to death because they have no imagination whatsoever.
Hollywooods' latest non-idea seems to be re-making 70s TV series and films...badly.
Playing it safe and complete lack of imagination are killing these industries. And to add to it over-pricing and blaming your own customers for having the good taste not to watch/listen to the guff your producing is hardly going to help.
Why? The article doesn't explain WHY it would be good for IBM and Sun to switch their licenses. To me, it seems like Fink is just trying to garner some positive attention to HP, which has been looked upon negatively for some time in the technical community.

This doesn't surprise me. I played BF1942 and BF:V to death. My system doesn't even meet the minimum specs for BF2 (1.5Ghz Athlon - 1.33 here:( ).
Also BF1942 was not ready to be released and needed about 4 patches before it was reasonable and one of those completely broke the sound engine in the process. BF:V was a bit better, but that's not surprising since it basically was the 1942 engine anyway.
I did at one time plan to upgrade for BF2 but PC gaming is so expensive, it just seems silly. If you are suffering such issues on that spec of machine then DICE have obviously learned none of the lessons from 1942.
Someone also mentioned that BF2 was suspiciously console-like in it's menus etc. This is because BF2 is also coming out for consoles, albeit a slightly different version (I think the name is different too). Which kind of negates the PC game argument, but I digress...

Taking control is not technically such a doomsday scenario, but politically it's idiocy. What next, Germans taking control of all automative production because they invented the car? It's childish, typical Bush administration arrogance.
They should just privatize the system. It's insurance. Does an insurance company just hand over money without checking to see if the claim is legit?
Privatising it would change this how exactly? Other than siphoning off a lot of money for profit that would normally go to the unemployed who need it.
I always go by the rule that the problem reported is inversely proportional in size to the coverage it gets. Unemployment fraud is a very minor problem, especially compared to corporate fraud. But corporate fraud involves taking on rich people, it's much easier to go after poor people who can't fight back.

There is plenty of corruption in the UK, US,France,Germany,the USSR etc. I don't see how that's an issue unique to post soviet east european countries.

President Bush also cut NASA funding. They can't even get the shuttle into space without it falling to bits, despite a $1bn re-fit.
