    Probably. But most people do their best work early on, because they have something to prove. Okay, so there are exceptions, like the Beatles etc., but if you think of a lot of artists, once they become middle aged they're not exactly making ground-breaking work like they were when they began. I think they just lose the drive and mellow out with age. Plus I guess having bazillions of dollars helps ease the pain.

    Incidentally, Lars is a hopeless drummer.

    With this project, it says people write articles, and edit other peoples work. Does that mean I can edit your article? It would seem to be a breeding ground of fighting, flaming, and trolling.

    AFAIK. A friend (no, really...) edited someones Wiki entry because they had made a spelling mistake. The original poster was miffed and insisted it was the correct spelling (it wasn't...) and changed it back. Sounds like a recipe for disaster if you ask me.

    Yes, and they are. Many of the third world countries spend more of their GDP paying back the interest, never mind the debt, than they do on healthcare and education and all the other things they should be spending money on.

    Finally, we give them money, and stop giving them manufacturing equipment. Then they are only dependent on us for money. That's where we are with a lot of countries currently. Now, we need to phase out the free money we give them.

    Free money? What do you think Third World Debt is?

    Trying to design a $100 dollar laptop for starving users or kids who still go to schools where blackboards are mounted on trees is not a feasible idea.

    Trying to make feature out of paying less to your direct competitor last year.

    I suspect this happens a lot. Many moons ago I worked for Sun Microsystems and one of their higher spec machines relied on IBM processor(s). So they were dependent on their arch rival to ship competing products on time and in working order.

    I for one hate the extreme liberal bias exerted by the BBC. It's laughable that anyone could think otherwise.

    Here in the UK everyone complains that the Beeb are biased - the conservatives, the liberals, the government. They must be doing something right.

    Firewalls+total control of the information infrastructure+ willingness to do anything necessary+trusted computing (well, that last one is a comin).

    Thanks to Cisco Systems and Sun Microsystems, as well as others. It seems human rights go out the window as soon as money is involved.

    We should be thankful. Remember, they saved our ass (not sure why saving a mongrel donkey is something to be grateful for, but anyway..) invented money, and democracy and really ugly cars and fat people.

    I think we can overlook the fact they excluded the other 192 countries of the world in their magnificent Google search engine weather map. Remember, the US invented the weather.

    In fact it's thanks to their continued production of massive amounts of pollution that we have such exciting weather in the rest of the world.

    You've hit the nail on the head there.

    People will happily support protests - until they are affected personally.

    For example, in the UK there were protests about the high taxation on fuel - mainly by hauliers and farmers. There were nationwide blockades of refineries etc.

    But when people actually started running out of petrol because of the blockades they suddenly stopped supporting it. Because they were personally affected.
