You watch too much TV. Most criminals are not sophisticated enough to operate in darkness. Turning off more lights tends to be a deterrent, since the criminals can't see anything.

How can it be though that there isn't one recording of his speech that's been released in the public domain?
I don't think there were many video cameras on the streets back in 1963. Consumer camcorders were not available until the 80s.
AMD is a leader in x86 microprocessor design, and we remain committed to the x86 market. Our strategy is to accelerate our growth by taking advantage of our design capabilities to deliver a breadth of products that best align with broader industry shifts toward low power, emerging markets and the cloud.
This is a completely meaningless statement. You could say the same exact thing about any microprocessor company. For example:
"Freescale is a leader in PowerPC microprocessor design, and we remain committed to the PowerPC market. Our strategy is to accelerate our growth by taking advantage of our design capabilities to deliver a breadth of products that best align with broader industry shifts toward low power, emerging markets and the cloud."
This statement is true even though AMD and Freescale aren't competitors.
This is the kind of garbage that makes employees think that their managers are clueless and don't know how to fix the company.
This imbalance will only spur the mass exodus of smart EE's from hardware into software.
God, I hope not. The worst code I've seen is almost invariably produced by EEs. The last thing the software world needs is more hardware engineers who want to "try out" being a programmer. No thanks.
Where are you getting $25/year for software development job? 20 years ago, even a kid fresh out of college would have made more than that. I know, because that's when I got my first development job, and I made more than that.
Sorry, but Engineers do not tend to believe Creationism. I'm an engineer, and I've worked with hundreds of them, and I don't know a single person who believes in Creationism.
Typically, a speech broadcast to a large audience on radio and television (and considered instrumental in historic political changes and ranked as the most important speech in 20th century American history) would seem to be a prime candidate for the public domain.
I don't know how in the world you could think this. It's a ridiculous notion. It's pretty obvious that the speech is copyrighted, and that the owners of the copyright have the right to restrict its distribution. Anyone wishing to write about the speech can use existing fair-use laws to refer to it, but just simply posting a copy on a web site is obviously an infringement.
Perhaps the copyright owners want to make sure that it isn't abused. There are a lot of people out there who would love to twist Dr. King's words to their own advantage.
With 200,000 hard drives, won't there always be at least one hard drive that is failing? You'll need an IT guy 24/7 swapping out the failed drives. As soon as he swaps out one drive, another one will fail. It just seems kinda ridiculous.
How far do you think you would get in the interview process if you said, "The reason I want to join the patent office is so that I can stop stupid patents from being accepted"?
Are you aware that Eagle and Kicad files can be used by layout tools and by companies that manufacturer the boards? You can import the file into your tool, merge the circuitry with your existing design, and then export the whole thing to a manufacturer. Printing the schematics is not what this is about.
even after the US government defaults this would also benefit the Tea Party.
Actually, it wouldn't. The problem with the Tea Party is that they're all morons. It's a party of angry, stupid, middle-age white people who don't know anything about running a country. Defaulting on our national debt would be a disaster that hurts the poor and middle class the most, and hence will hurt the Tea Party the most. They just don't realize it.
Every time a new DVD becomes available on streaming, Netflix has to pay a higher licensing fee. When does it stop? What good does it do me if Netflix has 1,000,000 movies on instant streaming, but because of all the licensing fees, the service costs $100/month?
One of my children recently fell off the monkey bars at his school and broke his arm. The cost for the surgery and cast: over $15K. I have an excellent health insurance plan, but it only covers about 90%, so I still have to pay almost $2,000. I bet most people in this country would have to pay a lot more than that.
What should I do about it? I don't blame the school, so I can't sue them. I can't blame my child either. Should I tell him that he can't play on the monkey bars any more, because if he falls off again, then the family can't afford to go on vacation that year? That's crazy.
Maybe this is why we have a safety paranoia in this country. We literally can't afford to get hurt.

I think it's actually two women. I think this is one of them: http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=858297
The other doesn't appear to have a LinkedIn account.

Everyone is saying IT is immune from the economy.
What? I don't know anyone who says that.
Things like state machines or indirect addressing come naturally to them. Software is a natural evolution from circuit design.
The fact that you believe this makes it clear that you are one of those EE's who thinks he can program.
This imbalance will only spur the mass exodus of smart EE's from hardware into software.

Ironically, those who are afraid to drink a beer are effectively ruled by alcohol.
And many slaves were happy being slaves
So tell me, what's it like being a member of the KKK? After all, only asshole racists like them would say something so stupid.

"You can't trust code that you did not totally create yourself."
I can't trust the code that I did totally create myself, either.

I'm rambling.
No shit. I think I know why you failed English 101.

I told my wife I wanted to use my ejecta to seed life in^H^Hon Uranus, but she said no way.
The web page for the Add-on Compatibility Reporter says:
Not available for Firefox 2.2
This is funny because I'm using Seamonkey 2.2, not Firefox.
Aren't the odd decimal places development branches?
Linus stopped using that method back in 2004. Where have you been?
Although everything went fine
In other words, your ex-mother-in-law proved you wrong.
You really should have come up with a better example.

Um, I think having a broken arm and wearing a cast for six weeks is enough of a lesson on consequences for a kid in kindergarten.
