  2. Re:Intimate Walmart/RFID info on Wal-Mart's Faltering RFID Initiative · · Score: 1

And lets not even talk, much anyhow, about a pallet full of cans of soup. RFID visibility is not good amongst cans. If its supposed to always be on a visible side, how do you target the one in the middle? What about mis-stacking with RFIDS hidden? Besides cans provide an example of economics. I understand that Wal Mart pays something on the order of six cents per soup can. If RFID is ten cents. Do you want to "pay" more than a can of soup, 1/24 of your cost for visibility. Perhaps not when profits are measured to much smaller decimal points.
Right now as I understand it, Walmart is only putting the chips on whole pallets and not individual products. Tagging individual products would obviously be harder as it would require the manufacturers to do this. Also one of the downsides of the current chips is they fail around things like liquids and steel. Their are still areas where they are not as effective as they need to be in order for the investment to be worthwhile.
  3. First This on FBI Seeks To Restrict University Student Freedoms · · Score: 0, Troll

Next week it its immigrants, extremists, hippies, and pretty much anyone who they deem a "threat." All I see here is an attempt by the FBI to make Americans scared of fellow Americans. Pretty soon we'll be turning each other in for doing mundane tasks soon seen as "crimes." Naturally I feel this is a bit extreme, but I could see it going this far, someday.

It is quite obvious that this is the result from someone sending us a message from the future telling us to start this program. It only makes sense that an asteroid in our future will be heading towards us. Next we'll have to gather up the best men on the planet to take this bitch down. By starting this program now, we're saving ourselves for the future. It's all pretty logical.

For me, what made the game worth the $20 was the commentary mode alone. I would have paid for the game regardless, but this mode is akin to the extra features you get on DVD releases today. The extra information given reeeaaalllyy helped fill in some gaps and gave a preview of Episode Two if a few spots. With the commentary it adds in another 4-5 hours of gameplay alone.

I agree with this. In this day though if the government wants to help give us a leg up against the Japanese who are advancing faster than us, free Wifi would really help. By not having to pay for the Net you give everyone access to limitless information. This issue shouldn't be about money, it should be about education. Free Wifi = better education for all. The telco's will obviously gripe about this at first, but we all know its coming eventually.
