    Facebook IPO wasnt a gaffe, it was a hedge fund scam. facebook was advised to give their IPO at a much higher value than they knew it could sustain, and the advisers hedged against facebook. made a lot of rich people richer, and fucked over some other rich people, and also fucked over some not so rich people.

    as for apple maps, that deserves to be number 1, why the hell did apple even bother to release such a poor piece of software...

    The main problem is, microsoft put a lot of time and effort into making sure the desktop environment is more or less the same, visually, to the end user from version to version. In the last 2 years, ubuntu has gone through at least 3 different desktop versions. Stop trying to be "not windows" and accept the fact that microsoft have put a lot of effort behind the desktop being the way it is.

    Standardize a basic layout and design and stick too it.

    Also, GUI needs moving to the kernel, or at least it needs to be a kernel driver, GUI in linux os's at the minute is slow, even hardware accelerated GUI is slow in linux.

    1. 3000 wifi radios all broadcasting together on only 13 channels? My wifi at home can hardly handle the 2 other people in the street and my phone's bluetooth being on at the same time.

    2. wouldnt ever street these cars are to drive need wifi? unless the plan is to connect to the infrastructure network via 3G, which dies the second a single spec of rain is in the air.

    3. there is a reason a plane has a pilot, people wont fly if the plane is flown by computer (which actually does most of the work now anyway), people also wont allow a computer to drive their car for them without someone being sat at the wheel to take control "just incase".

    6 months, out of courtesy. but really, your not required to give any sort of ongoing support unless its in some sort of written contract in place stating how much you will do for free, and for how long, and how much everything else will cost the client. its usually best to aim for a £100/hr for software dev and set your self a minimum amount that you would be willing to work for.

    This is something that just "will be fixed at some point" with firefox and everyone seems to accept it. If the same story came out about IE, all of slashdot would be in uproar about how ridiculous it is and how bloated the whole process and application must be to require so much memory to do such a simple task such as linking... Not sure why i read slashdot any more, seems to just say "its open source, so its just better, no matter what the feature base or the bugs or the lack of support, its just better" which is just blind idiocy...

    where do you get 65% failure rate from? made it up? or found it on some sony or nintendo or anti-microsoft website? either way, its bollocks. a 65% failure rate would have caused any product ever to have been made to be scrapped.

    run most multiplatform games side by side, 360 holds up to PC and ps3 quite well... i know this because i have all 3...

    8.5gb of usable space doesnt create a nightmare beyond, "you have to compress your pcm and tiff to ac3 and png" on the most part. all cross ports are built for the 360 first, and then the uncompressed textures and audio are put in place on a ps3 version... the same compressed content is actually used on the PC, which also uses "gimped last gen dvd drives"....

    according to game.co.uk, there are over 1100 games for the 360 and less than 700 for the PS3. there are also more high quality games on the 360 compared to the 4 games that the ps3 has that the 360 doesnt.

    eye toy comparason would be the 360 webcam, kinect is a 3D motion tracking system. actually look into it.

    buy a 360 and a sony bluray player... ohh look at that, you have spent less than what a ps3 costs...

    controller weighs roughly the same as a psx/ps2/ps3 controller and was voted by wired as the best controller in the market.

    use a laptop or a pc... a games console isnt a pc.

    fair enough, the only point you have in this entire long list of utter horse shit is that avatars are based on Mii's, but are far better and less gay.

    take your head out of sony/nintendo's arse and take 2 minutes to actually look at the bollocks comes from your keyboard.

    you arnt forced to pay anything, you choose to play online.

    ripoff accessory prices? where is your backup? last lot of accessories i bought were 2 battery packs and 2 charger cables. both official, £12 each from tesco... not bad really.

    i learned my way around the keyboard shortcuts because of dead batteries in a wireless mouse, and nowhere sells AA's at 3am.

    after that, i put it into practice a lot, makes it easier to quickly configure a new computer at work.

    after a few goes, it gets really easy, to a point where a task most people use a mouse for, is so much easier with keyboard shortcuts

    im sure ISP's like BT already tried this within themselves for advertising purposes, and sold the info to the highest bidder (phorm)... and to a lesser extent with search data and analytical data, Google. who also use the information for their own advertising means and sell the info to the highest bidder (adwords)...

    just happens that in this case, DOD and DHS are the only bidders and are making it "worth their while"

    hes free to do with his program as he pleases, but not free to use the skype protocol as he pleases. skype own the protocol and the network that app connects too and its their protocol and network to do with as they wish. if they want to keep it closed, that is their own choice.

    someone else would have been free to create a competitor network and service, and would also have been free to open their protocol, making it popular in its own way, eventually taking over and shutting down the popularity of the original network... rather than the original network having their freedom stripped from them, just so others can cash in in the game

    they wrote the protocol, they wrote the application, they wrote their own audio and video codecs for a/v transmission. what does this have to do with linux, open source or anything outside of skype themselves. they own what they wrote, and its theirs to do with as they please and restrict how they see fit.

    loads of people on here bang on about freedom, but all that they want to do is re-apropriate freedom.. they want to take freedom away from those who already have it and give it to those who dont. seems hypocrytical to me

    if you are able to, and able to afford solar power installation, you really should. the amount of energy panels produce to the cost of the panels per square foot means, to produce all your electricity for a home or business with solar, costs about 7 - 10 years of your energy bills, and most panels now are guaranteed to last a minimum of 25 years. not only will they eventually save you a lot of money (as energy costs are only going to go up), they can allow you to make money if you get a "feed-in-tariff" that allows you to sell your excess production back to the grid
