You're actually wrong. The media is purchased, the content is licensed. And it's not even that the content is licensed, it's just that reproduction of it is covered by existing _laws_, not a license/contract that you didn't agree to prior to the purchase.
Not with the computer. The Laser was another $2k (give or take), and the $6500 was without the hard drive (optical only), though they added a 40MB swap drive as a retro-fit to all the optical only purchasers. I ended up spending about another $2k for a 330MB 5.25" maxtor drive before they came out with the swap drive.
Well, it might not have been within spec, but with just one 3.5" drive you can put 4 boards in one cube. Of course 2 were main boards (1 040, 1 030), and 2 were NextDimensions
Don't be jealous. Shit with all the time I'm spending on maintaining the 'too big' house we got when we changed locations to a cheaper area all my computers are falling into disrepair (bitrot)...:-(
Damn, I hate it when I do that... I read that statistic in the paper this morning, quoted it, then after posting thought to lookup the number of deaths due to lightning. Turns out only about 90/year. I think harpers was doing their math with the number of lightning deaths since 1959. Still, the number of deaths due to things like the flu and car accidents dwarf terrorism, and people should use their intellect to deal with the threat of terrorism, not their heart/fears, as that's what gives the terrorists power.
July of 2002, less than a year after 9/11 I sailed into San Francisco harbor after being at sea for over 3 weeks, not seeing a single other ship, and only 1 plane the entire time (sailing from Kauai). Certainly 3 weeks is enough time to hook up with another ship, transfer the nuke, etc. We were never approached by the coast guard, and docked and drove away without being challenged by customs or immigration. Not that I'm worried though, since January 2002, Americans were 1.5 times more likely to be killed by lightning strikes than terrorist attacks.
Well, in my area, I can volunteer to work in a polling place, and both parties generally have observers at each stage of the movement of ballots to prevent that sort of tampering...
Before I click on their sample link, I get 'microsoft.com' in my status bar at the bottom of the window. So, I would say the attack works. Note that the address bar in the visiting window correctly shows google.com. Not sure that's the case with IE.
Well, statistically, your security is more in the hands of the idiots at the wheel around you on the road than it ever was in the hands of any terrorists. Not to mention that what you put in your mouth and how much exercise probably has much more to do with how long you live.
Heinlein (via Lazarus Long): Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded -- here and there, now and then -- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck."
after the FedEx guy said, "so, you going to fly to washington and shoot the president?"
Of course, he was delivering 1000 rounds of 9MM Luger ammo.
My response was, "nooooo, wouldn't do that...". Never know who's listening. Not that I would do that, but I'm not exactly a bush supporter, and of all the presidents, I think the country would be best off losing him.

Well, lubricating that fault and allowing it to move might transfer stress to another unlubed fault and cause a larger quake on that fault sooner.

Well, from what I remember when i got mine (NeXTStep 0.9), the 'list price' for a .edu was $6500, not $5000
And use the USB port for external storage for the stuff you're serving.

They are at least as reliable as "real" voting in Florida!
That would be 'excellent' :-)

More than that, air is affected by paper falling thru it. And around and around it goes...
Silly boy, I've got a keypress snooper installed on all the computers my wife uses. Including her boyfriend's!
Actually, it was an intentional 'pun' (with a non-real world), but I did think that some (probably bush supporters) would consider it flamebait.
Well, did you change your mind or go ahead and eat the mcdonalds?
On the contrary, I've been married twice and divorced once. 50%. See, statistics do work!
Hey, don't forget about Sebastopol...
And Poland, don't forget Poland!
Oh, wait, they have nukes...

Note to Mods, that's not Funny, it's Inciteful :-)

Unless of course you are exceedingly unlucky.
Wish I had mod points...

But trying to make sense of what they mean before I've had my first cup of coffee is making my head hurt...
