What really twists my noodle is the knowledge that a new pilot, after completing sim training, fly's a real airliner for the first time on a normal commercial flight with a full load of passengers.

Yeah, but that *new* pilot has several hundred hours of flight time (ie: Commercial pilots license by FAA, PLUS an instrument rating, certifying he's able to fly safely in the soup) in other aircraft before an airline will even talk to him.. He trains for MANY in that full-motion simulator for the type aircraft he will fly for the airline before he ever sits in the right seat (First Officer)....

Thats my main gripe with most all of the Linux music players, EXCEPT for XMMS/Audacious, which I exclusively use on Linux.. I love this country, served in its military in the 70s, but am embarrased and sickened by its government.. We are WELL beyond "the ballot box" being able to fix the MANY problems, and the government is well on its way to be SURE that no corrections in it can be made by "the ammo box"... They were originally running RHEL3, which of course was coming up to EOL in a few months. The suits wanted to buy licenses for RHEL to upgrade the nodes, the IT staff wanted to use CentOS. Research was done on pricing for over 100 RHEL licenses, and after a while, the suits decided to go with IT's choice of CentOS for the compute nodes and use *one* RHEL install for the master node. I wasn't involved with the pricing discussions, but I heard that RH sales were stuck on nearly full pricing for all 100+ licenses.

When I asked for a little help, when the department manager, who didn't like me a bit, despite getting along great with, and great reviews from, my immediate boss, decided he was gonna can me for doing something I'd been TOLD to do by my boss, that HE didn't approve of.. Instead of canning my boss, he cans me. I expect due to the fact I put in a grievance to the union steward everytime this fat pig violated the collective bargaining agreement, such as overtime selection, etc.. All his "pets" got the overtime, others got none. Anyway, I came into work the next day, and was told I was canned. Explained to the union steward the background, and the words out of his worthless mouth was "sorry for you, we can't help you"... The fat fuck department head was so vindictive he pulled strings to get my unemployment denied. I tried appealing but apparently he had too much clout. I went and spoke to an attorney who specialized in labor relations, and after telling him the story, he said "you have a good case.. gimme $5K retainer and I'll see what I can do"... yeah, right...
