You forget that they themselves will be just as trackable. As a politician I would be very worried about that. For some reason though, they seem to not care, which I find weird. So either they really don't care, or they just have not clue. What do you think it is?;)
Either that or.... Their passports "magically" do not have the RFID... perhaps a "governmental passport"... Its getting so you don't even need the tin-foil hat to see the conspiracies out there.......
If your gaming fix is thru Steam, your wait is over.. Steam runs swimmingly under Ubuntu and Wine.. I play TF2, TFC thru Steam all the time on both my Linux laptop and desktop.... Can't say much about other gaming platforms...
You want to talk annoying.. We have several workstations at work with Redhat (RHEL3), which run a heavy OpenGL modeling program. We just got word of an security audit finding that we have to run AV on these machines.. And they stipulate Mcafee (we run Mcafee on our windows boxes) LinuxShield... What a piece of sewage!! But for this security requirement I'd be crazy to waste cpu cycles on AV on Linux. I can see running AV if the Linux machine is a mail-handler, but not these systems....
It isn't just AV from Symantec.. When they absorbed BackupExec from Veritas, it went from *good* to *less_than_good*.. I've been using BE since Seagate owned it, and back then it was fantastic, kicking Arcserve to the ground... Now BE is just a bloated pig always kicking up new and wonderful errors that get to call into phone support to have them tell you "it isn't supposed to do that"... Everything Symantec touches turns to crap...
No, not really.. The political idiots calling themselves "conservatives" nowadays, like Bush, McCain are no more conservatives then Josep Stalin was... A conservative believes in personal responsibility, limited government.. These neo-cons masquerading as conservatives are a joke.. If you don't like the country run by the right, you REALLY won't like it run by the hard left, like Obama and his ilk... or maybe you will... If you long for the old USSR, wait a bit, you'll LOVE the new improved USSA....
Its been destroyed...... By both the republicrats and the democans... Mark this time well.. We are seeing the final destruction of what America was.. I don't want to hear the Obamadroids blab on about Bush/Republicans.. I agree both sides are equally guilty.. I wonder how long it will take for the USSA mem to take hold... its definately appropriate... United Socialist States of Amerika...
Is it just me, but isn't that the shortest trial in history?? Didn't it just start this past Monday??? How could ANY trial, short of a "kangaroo court", end so soon... Oh wait... perhaps that's what this was... Where were all the expert witnesses, and hotshot lawyer that was taking this probono?? I'm sure gonna be waiting to hear NYCL's take on this abortion......
Big Whoop... I gave up tv about ten years ago.. With the stupid mindless drivel I hear about from my coworkers who still are addicted to it, I say "Good Riddance".... Oh how I wish there was a giant jammer to block all tv.. cable, OTA, satellite.. Then the American sheeple might wake up from their hypnosis and realize what destruction has been worked on this country in the last 50 or so years, and then get REALLY FUCKING MAD!!! Its gonna take that to keep this wonderful country from becoming the USSA (United Socialist States of Amerika)
I read somewhere that if the star Sirius, which is only 13 LY from us, were to go supernova, which I believe its capable of, we would have a serious problem starting in 13 years after it actually happened.. If I remember correctly the article, said that life on Earth would be toast when the light speed particle storm reached us... Anybody remember seeing this or am I in the early stages of Alzheimer...
I had a vps hosted by fsckvps, one of Vaserv's sister companies, which was deleted by this exploit from the host machine it ran on. I'm in pretty good shape since I had a vpn between the vps and one of my internal machines with a cron job each night that backed the mysql database, which is the only part of the system that would be a real pain to recreate. I'd considered using the full vps backup manager that the HyperVM console had, to backup the entire vps periodically, but the only way to get the resultant tarball off their backup node was via ftp.. Since I don't run an ftp server on my internal server, and don't intend to, I gave up on a full backup of the vps. I couldn't even scp the tarbar down my vpn, since it was on a different server, which as I understand, was ALSO hacked and files were deleted.. I feel sorry for the guys who were relying on those backups to rebuild their vps... I'd asked if it were possible to get access to the resultant backup tarballs and copy into one's own vps and copy/move from there to a safe off-site location, but no one from management ever responded to my question... Still waiting for a replacement vps from them, figure I'll stay with them, since, besides this issue, they've been awesome...
I would be VERY surprised if he gets it back.. Law enforcement nowadays LOVES to civily seize property EVEN if there is no criminal conviction.. I'm gonna bet he's going to have to spend a large amount of money to hire an attorney to go after these shitstains.
I hope the judge that issued the search warrant AND the police that executed it are severely punished... Oh what AM I saying..This is now the USSA and law enforcement does whatever it wants.. This judge with a "Constitutional" brain on her shoulders will be taken out for "re-education..." What WAS I thinking.....
Or you set up one of the free accounts at Washington Mutual (don't know what their new name is, since they got bought out..) and link that to PayPal... And only keep what you don't mind PP ripping off if (when) they decide to screw *you* over... I've done that for purchases/sales on ebay.. though I haven't used eBay or PP since about last fall, when eBay began going insane with all the new idiotic rules... Unless the stockholders revolt and remove the inmates from running the asylum I'm thinking I probably won't use either of them again... Bottom line: you NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER link any bank account that you care about to PayPal....
I'm on the DNC, and I swear, EVERY flippin' night RIGHT at dinnertime, the phone rings, with "blocked id" on the caller ID.. For the longest time, the wife would start to get up to go answer it, till I trained her not to...I wish my phone co. had the feature that some do, where you can configure your phone to not even ring for blocked id... But it doesnt..
Nice sentiment there, cjsm, but apparently you haven't noticed that DC seems hell-bent on running that precious Bill of Rights thru the shredder.. With Comrade Obama and his communist friends running the show now, it won't be long before our Bill of Rights will look like long strips of shredded paper... And before one of the liberal hordes here suggest that BushCo wasn't any better.. yeah, I kinda agree with ya, even though I voted for him twice, the last time was simply voting AGAINST his opponent...
That was the last straw for me.. had a Dell box with COA on the case, all the sudden WGA decides to tell me that I have a bogus copy of XP.. Ummm... NO?? I removed the drive, copied irreplaceable stuff off via another system, blew XP off and put Ubuntu on it.. Never looked back.. MS can kiss my ass..
I know.. Don't feed the AC's... But THIS AC hit the nail dead on the head... I'm 59 and under normal circumstances, I'd be looking at retiring in about 6 years... but I've got a funny feeling that's not gonna happen... My 401K is now a.001K thanks to Wall Street, and how does anyone live on the monthly SS stipend? I know.. Dog food?? I want to thank the fat fuckin' criminals in DC for the last 50 years who have totally fucked this country up... Let's have a round of applause for these shitheads... Whether they have an R or a D after their name, they should be behind bars...
>The system can sometimes be unfair, especially to >people with more unusual views >(Communist,Libertarian etc) who feel permanently excluded.
Now, with Comrade Obama and his cronies in power, the Communists will feel right at home, and us Conservatives will join the Libertarians in feeling permanently excluded....
Somewhere around 1993-1994, a 486DX2-66, Slackware with a 1.13 kernel, a 56k leased line, and our company's new website hosted on that machine with the original httpd... Boy this takes me back....
On the Dell idea, you can get an Optiplex 755, with at least a Core2Duo, with 2G of shipped ram, and a single 80GB SATA drive from the Dell Outlet for in the neighborhood of $400-500.. The 755 supports up to 8GB of ram, and the BIOS supports RAID0/1. I bought one a couple of months ago for $419, replaced the 2x1GB sticks with 4x2GB for $100, and two 250GB SATA drives in RAID0 for performance..Makes a fantastic Virtualbox host with Ubuntu 8.04/64bit for a bit over $600.. Every so often I see a Core2Quad-equiped 755 go by on the Outlet for $500-600.... I've bought quite a few Optiplex desktops and Vostro laptops off the Dell Outlet, and have never had any problems with any of them... The same spec 755 that I bought for $419 on the outlet, we were buying at work for $990 each.... same exact specs... See why I like the Outlet????
What do you want to bet, a nice big check just came in the mail for the judge, with a return address of RIAA.......
You forget that they themselves will be just as trackable. As a politician I would be very worried about that. For some reason though, they seem to not care, which I find weird. So either they really don't care, or they just have not clue. What do you think it is? ;)

So was Veritas Backup Exec... Ever since Symantec got their claws into it, its been a piece of shit...
Everything Symantec touches turns to shit.....
AMEN to THAT, Brother.....
